I am a current Verizon customer nearing the end of contract. I'm thinking of jumping ship to Sprint. If SERO was still availalbe that would be a no brainer. I think I want the new HTC Touch Pro. Do I get Simply Everything? Everything Plus? Do I try to take over someone's grandfathered SERO plan - would that make me ineligible for a new customer deal on the Pro or any other phone? Please advise. Thanks
If you take over someone else's plan I don't think you would get any new customer pricing on phones, since that person probably already received a discount for agreeing to the contract in the first place. The type of plan you get depends upon what you want to do with the device. I think you need an everything plan with data in order to get mail in rebates now. Once you got your rebate you could adjust your plan if you want.
If you can take over a SERO plan do it. It's probably a little more hassle than getting a new plan through Sprint but SERO is such a great deal. I have a SERO plan and a Mogul, about to upgrade to the Touch Pro. Sorry, I do plan to stick with Sprint for a while. The Touch Pro is a really nice device and even if you have to fork over the cash and get on a Simply Everything plan, Sprint's plans seem to come in cheaper than Verizon for comparable plans. Sprint has plenty of good smartphones to choose from but the Touch Pro is the newest and most powerful. The original Touch isn't bad and it's cheap right now. Just take a look through Sprint's phone offerings, and if you get a phone you don't like you can sell it on eBay and get a different phone. Also if you sign up for a contract you can probably change phones out within the first 15 days or month, I'm not sure what the time frame is. Good luck.
