I came across this Petition to Samsung Telecommunication America in one of the other post sites and I think everyone should check it out and add their names to it. What could it hurt?...Maybe it can help. Samsung need to hear the voices of its customers and i think this is a pretty good way to do it. Lets get on this...tell everyone you know that has a samsung (and even those who dont) to sign...there are only 78 names as of now... i know there are more than 78 unsatisfied samsung users out there!!!

Everyone should sign this petition. Maybe Samsung will put pressure on Sprint and then release a software update that allows snap media to work. There are currently 108 signatures.

Sanyo is quickly climbing the market behind Samsung. Sprint would have ample time to find a replacement, because they are in a contract with Samsung, which most likely states that a certain amount of units (phones) must be produced, or for a certain amount of time the phones must be produced, for Sprint. If Sprint drops Samsung, they will still be receiving Samsung phones until the contract is up and by then Sprint will have a replacement I'm sure.

    This an't Europe or Asia.
Majority of cell phone sold in US are sold thru service provider.
You think Samsung has gut to tell sprint that they don;t need their market.
    Get a grip.
Service provder has the power, not the other way around.

I'm still kind of confused about this issue. I bought an A500 last Friday, I am quite upset that I can't put images and ringers on it (as it is) but did Samsung actually remove the capibility to do this, or just won't come out with the cable that will enable it. I have no problem with it as long as somebody releases a product that'll let me x-fer images and ringers off my pc to my phone.

I put a lot of blame on Sprint, if I went out and bought the Camera for my phone it would upload any images I took to sprints web site then I could download them to my phone. That means they (Sprint) could eaisly make it where I could just upload from my pc to their photos.sprintpcs.com site.

They have one week to fix this [IMG]

i agree...sprint is the problem. if they allowed us the option of uploading our own pics...they wouldnt make money off of us for purchasing the camers and using thier "photo" service. I have been following a company called SnapMedia that is a third party software developer that was working on software to allow A500 users to upload pics and ringers from their pc to the phone. I saw a post on one of the other boards that says that Samsung will not release the codes (im sure sprint has something to do with this) for the phone so they cannot develop stable software to sell to the public.

this is why i think the petition is so important. tell everyone you know to go by and sign it. it couldnt hurt...maybe it will help us all out in the long run.

Let's keep this thing going....the petition has gotten over 100 signatures since I put my name on it. I know there are more than 175 unsatisfied samsung users out there...this is a good way for our voices to be heard.

Hopefully this thing is working....A post on sept 27 entitled A500/460 And Futuredial look like the production of third party software is on its way.

It still pisses me off that the T100 from europe had the software and cable included in the purchase. Now I have to buy a data cable and the thirdparty software on top of the $300+ for the phone. I guess I have just talked myself out of ever purchasing a Samsung phone again!!!!

This is why a lot of European companies are going out of business, dumbass!. What do you want? A phone that works for a few more months with free downloads? or to pay for a service and keep the company alive?

just so everybody understands that when a company has a patent pending blah blah blah that certain things like codes and stuff is illegal to get until that patent has expired. so all the pettioning in the world is not going to get your generic pics any faster. its called free enterprise. I dont understand why Samsung wont allow custom ringers and images on the A310 phone. That baffles me. Verizon isnt trying to be a monopoly over downloads like Sprint is, and the A310 isn't even compatible with the Get It Now service! GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER SAMSUNG!

goto www.PCSpix.com you can upload your own images from your computer to their site, then access their site again from you PCS vision phone and download those images to your phone. the image you upload needs to be small enough to fit on your screen 128x119 pixels should be about right, and file size MUST be under 60kilobytes. Membership status' are explained on the site.. The have not yet figured out how to do ringtones yet, but at least you can do images... Hope the helps!!!

I don't fault Sprint for trying to control and profit from the process, AT&T has charged for ringers and images for years. I fault them for advertising all these wonderful things the phone can do and then screwing it up with a shameful implementation. They have had the same 130 horrible pop music ringers since inception. They could easily add the ability to upload your own images for a small fee but don't. I have the camera, and it's terrible. Cheap, but terrible. The images are washed out and mostly blurry. Plus it's cubersome to connect to the phone, upload to Sprint, the download using the phone. They could shut everyone up and make plenty of money if the charged for the ringers but offered several thousand high quality ringers including some "normal" ones. Charged for images but again had a library of thousands of them, maybe animated ones?. They could charge a couple bucks a month for a vault and some simple image conversion software to use your own images.

I just don't see how a major company can so obviously miss the mark. It's pretty sad when you see a Sprint commercial or see that stupid camera in the stores and find yourself saying "Yea right, that works". I've said it before, someone wrote a wonderful business plan to implement an all digital, CDMA based network of cellular service with state of the art phones and handed it to a band of incompetent monkeys to execute. Very disappointing.

I think there is nothing greater that free enterprise!!! But I have also done my homework and found an almost identical model to the A500 that is sold in the Asian market. Most of you may have come across the T100 while looking for solutions to your A500 problems. The facts are that Samsung includes software and a data cable upon purchase of the T100 phones. Why couldnt they do that for the US market???? Ill tell you why.... SPRINT. Sprint is nothing more than a money hungry company that I driving all of their customers away. By nickle and dimeing thier customers to death and only offering out dated crap that noone wants is their own problem ( I mean come on...Heathcliff???? Disney ditties????). Samsung has probably already developed software for the A500 but Sprint has them tied down. If the software hasnt been developed...maybe Sprint/Samsung should get on the ball and try to save their customers. I have been burned and I will NOT renew w/ sprint and I will never buy a Samsung phone after this. I would just like to do something about the service/phone while I have it. If all of the people that are upset about the uselessness of the A500...I think they would have to do something about it.

if you havent had a chance to sign the petiton...what could it hurt????

i really don't understand your anger. after explaining the patent thing. and yes maybe in your particular situation you've were unhappy. but if you are going to fault a company for implementing avenues of revenue. you need not to work first and live off the land before calling an entity you have no idea how to run money hungry. this whole economy is based on making a buck wether it be right or wrong. other than having inside information on how to run a billion dollar companies that millions of people depend on for their livelihood. for someone who may have a legitimate complaint you seem to ramble on like a spoiled three year old. grow up.[IMG]

first of all...i am not the only one who is unhappy. I wouldnt mind paying for a ringer/image if they had anything worth the dollar that it would cost. I have look at the site every day since I got my new phone and they have added nothing but more useless ringers. I think that I can justify calling Samsung and Sprint money hungry because I just payed them over $300 for a phone and now I cannot do anything with it. If they want to make money...the first thing I would suggest is making their customers happy. They have already lost a CEO because of the thousands of customers they have lost recently. Why not produce software and sell it? Wouldnt they make money off that? A500 users would then have to buy the data cable and the software but then they would be happy.... I dont think this is a very hard concept...I am angry...I just think people should know about it

Or you can go to 3gVisioncorrected.com and upload images, midi files and qdk files for ringers for just a small, one-time donation ($5). This is by far the best way to go if you don't have your own web site (if you do have your own web space then you have a lot more options).

PCSpix gives you the first 10 transfers for free. So free to try is better than donation to start.

As far as the best way by far to go,
t1mmy and spryde both have free uploaders.

Besides, did you happen to look at the date of the post you quoted?

That's ok, I didn't look at the dates either. [IMG]

Well, I did notice the thread was started in September. But you never know... information is always valuable.

Those two free uploaders are good to know about. I suspect we'll see others as people figure this stuff out. It took me all weekend to configure my site so I could post downloadable screensavers and ringers (now I just have to get QCP to work).

I did try PCSpix and, yes, 10 transfers for free (actually, they offer 10 per month, so it's not only 10) is nice. But $5 forever is very reasonable. In any case, I couldn't get PCSpix to work so I'm not going to recommend it (it might have been just me or perhaps my phone, but I could never log in properly. Doesn't matter now, of course, that my site is working).

    387 yes 387 when I signed mine

I am still looking for a phone that works with the PCS Vision plan. I went through the N400, LG5350, Treo and I am turning everything back to the store. I can believe that I was out of work for two weeks looking to solve my communication needs. Why would they (sprint) do so much false advertising without having a class action suit?

My A500 works with Vision -- just exactly what isn't working for you?

This is emerging technology, and I wouldn't expect it to work terrific just yet. There are lots of bumps along this road, and if you're not into dealing with early adopter technology you probably should wait for a year or so.

(I'm also in Nevada, but I suspect you're in Vegas, while I'm having good luck here with Vision in Carson City).
