If I've got Cingular GSM in Washington, and move to Chigago, can I get local #?

I have a buddy that is in that area, but is in school here with me. She just got service there but would like to have a local Chicago # while here during the semester. Can this be done? I know that Cingular has coverage in Chicago so that shouldn't be a problem.

She might have to change her billing address. Sometimes carriers don't like to give out numbers like that. An easy way to find out would be to call. This is one situation where they can't lie to you since it's easy to prove whether you have the Chicago number or not.

You can often change numbers when you move, but not multiple times per year, moving back and forth to school. Every service plan has long distance included so why worry.

Unless you have a GAIT phone (ie Nokia 6340) Cingular will not be able to activate it with a Chicago #.

Cingular is still TDMA only in Chicago. Only T-Mobile and AT&T offer GSM at this time.
