I have read reviews on just about all the AT&T devices on CNET, and almost none of them can compare to my Verizon LG VX8300. Many have more of a poor picture quality. Many have no flash. Or ascending music volumes that you cant fix to stay 1 volume. And why is it so hard to find a flip phone with a flash? Needless to say, I am really disappointed with AT&T's choices. Everyone bashes Verizons selection of phones, yet other than the iPhone, I cant find a single AT&T phone I would consider trading in my LG VX8300 for. I guess I will suffer without my beloved phone when I fly to England.
You can not go by reviews on places like CNet alone, without actually trying the phones & service yourself. I do agree the phone selections aren't what they use to be & blame that on a few things, like Motorola being stuck in Razr mode, and they seem to be selling more Smart phones/PDA phones then regular phones. You are the only one that knows what will & will not work for you & that's what you need to keep in mind, but if you don't try something you may never know if it will work for you or not.
Cnet and Consumer reports are the worst for reviews IMHO. Att has a pretty solid lineup, as does verizon. Sprint though, always takes the cake.
You like you 8300, eh? Well, I guess all things are relative. I just left AT&T and was using a RAZR V3; I started on Verizon with their introductory VX8300. I was not impressed by the 8300. 8300s speakers had very 'tinny' sound with lots of buzz at medium volume. The 8300 phone always seemed ready to slip from my hand. It was hard to identify keys in the dark - the keyboard backlight was all there was since the bumps on number 5 were to small for me to feel. On the 8300, if you were on speakerphone, you had to leave the phone open or it would hang up (I could close the RAZR and still talk). The 8300 antenna does not extend although various media says it is extendable. I never took pictures with the 8300, but when I upgraded from 8300 to the VX9900 enV, I get great pictures, and the MP3 player sounds pretty good from the 9900 phones speakers (considering they are so small). I'd have liked any camera phone better than the V3s basic 640x480 VGA camera (although the V3 took great pictures - just too tiny). The Verizon GUI is leaving me choking. I suspect that the GSM systems in the AT&T phones are adding a bit of cost, so AT&T compensates that cost with fewer features. But that is my guess, not necessarily reality.
How can one sit on here and say a Verizon phone is better? Verizon puts that terrible UI on there phones. At least with AT&T you get the software in the phone that it is designed for. Also lets not forget AT&T does not cripple there phones as Verizon does...
I love the LG 8300 phone- I think it is a very solid phone in all perspectives and performs very well at was it's supposed to.
A colleague went into a Verizon store not too long ago and spoke to a tech support person. He asked the staffer which phones he saw the LEAST of. The answers: Samsung and LG. -- 77 days until my Verizon contract ends.
Maybe that is true for that particular store, but to be honest with you in my travels across the country, I probably see more LG Verizon phones than any other brand.
True- I did not see it that way. Still, though, I think(and some of you will agree) that Motorola phones are by far more bugged than LG phones.
It does seem with CDMA phones LG is the leader over Motorola & others, but with GSM I can say Motorola has LG & Samsung beat right now. I give it about a year & that may change, I have been pretty happy with my CU 400 when I tested it and after I changed the settings, prior it was a little buggy
You guys gotta see the new RAZR2 and whats coming out for AT&T in the next few months. I think all your prayers will be answered.
