Okay so my phone has been acting goofy. V3MM, so I do a phone reset and it cleared all the problems, but I found a new one. I forgot how I set the prompt for a text message. So that when I receive a text message it tells me:

(from Special Ed himself and AOL)

"You Got Mail..........I got mail YAYYYYYYYYYYYY I got mail YAYYYYYYYYY)"

I been thru all the menus.....another thing that has slipped my noggin.

Any idears? I am sure it is something blatantly obvious.

Well, go into Settings>>Sounds>>Ring Styles>>Detail, and then go down to Inbox and scroll to your file. Keep in mind, if u did a master clear, it will have erased all your custom ringtones that didnt come on the phone, so u will probbaly have to add it back again.

That option is no longer there. Hmmm seems that option was only specific to the original tones that comes with the phones because the options are only listed under when I select vibrate... Wierdness, but I found it now......thanks.

I deleted all the original tones so those options will only work if I have it in vibrate mode only which is worthless since all sounds are off...lol

I am gonna have to think hard about this one.

Ahhhh....I know what u did. If u deleted tones that u added (some were probably linked to ring styles in use), you probably cant access the Ring Style menu anymore right? If so, go into BitPim or P2Kcommander, and in the a/ folder, delete the MyToneDB.db file. Then restart the phone. This re-indexes the tones ACTUALLY on the phone, and will allow access back into ALL ring style setting menus. WHen u delete ringers from the phone that are in use, the phone never UPDATES the songs still on the phone, so things get whacky. Deletign the .db file I mentioned will just freshen things up , and get them back to normal.

If that doesnt work, let me know, there is a longer way....but we can definitely get u back on track.

When I deleted the .db file last time is when I started noticing the problem. I did it again and no worky.

I am begining to think that there has to be at least 1 file in the correct directory to activate the menus, so to test this theory I am going to download a ringtone from VW and see if that opens it up since it will write to the correct ringtone directory.

Nope that did not work either...lol

Now that I think about it, what are your thoughts on just reloading the firmware from scratch. I backed up all my data. Of course where do I find the firmware?

Seem editing again after a reinstall is not a biggie.

Have u ever flashed before? I guess u could do that, it would work. You would just have to back up ur PRL, ERI, NAM files and load them back on, and ud be good to go.

Are you looking to avoid downloading? Because you'll still have to download something if you flash, you need to download the flash file. And since that's kinda a last resort thing and you'll have to download anyway, you might as well just download the stuff necessary to fix your phone without having to flash.

If you have backups of all the stuff you deleted you can write it back and that should fix it... you should always back up stuff before you delete in from your phone cause you never know if you'll need it for some reason.

Have u tried again? I was pretty sure that the only thing that didnt work with Verizon with 7.2.3 was the MMS_Data file. Even if it says that error, Im pretty sure it stil pulled the info u need.
