Ok well my final interview was with Cingular Wireless yesterday. I did well on my test and I thought I did pretty damn good on the interview too. I however don't think I got the job. My friend that was taking the test right next beside of me and also had a interview that day was informed he got the job that day and apparently so was 2 other people that same day. Instead I got a we will call you back and let you know. Anybody that is in the job force knows 99% of the time that means you didn't get the job. By the way just as a correction to my earlier post I wouldn't have been doing CS. I would have been on collections most likely inbound calls. That's all the JC center does is collections.
Dan, Sorry to hear that you don't think you got the job. I've been through that kind of situation before and it stinks. Not sure if you are interested in business sales, but I think Alltel has a business sales rep position open for the TriCities. You can look at their jobs at their website. Have you looked into Citiservices, the big center in Gray? They are always looking for customer service reps, inbound, etc. Good luck, Mike
I had a interview for a sales position with ALLTEL in Bristol, VA and I didn't get the job. I aso tried Citi Bank in grey and didn't get a job there either. I applied for a part time position at the Kingsport Times News and no luck on that one. I had a couple of interviews with Radio Shack a while back and thought I might get the job but in the end they hired somebody else. I applied for Best Buy and they never even called me back for a interview. Let me see who else have I tried. Blockbuster and they never even called me back. Craftmatic in Kingsport who totally blew me off. I just can't seem to get a job it seems like. I've applied for so many jobs the past few months and I have had no luck.
Have you looked into an employment agency? We have one locally and what you do is go into the agency, fill out one application, they interview you that day and then find a match with a local employer. The employer pays the agency's fees. The company that actually hires you typically does so on a 90-day trial period.
Dan, I'm sorry to hear of your troubles in finding a job. I know how dishearting that can be...... Just a suggestion for you. No doesn't always mean know. If you haven't already, send a thank you note to the person you interviewed with at Cingular (and Citi and Alltel if it was fairly recently) and tell them how much you appreciate the opportunity to interview with them. Then follow up the letter with a call to that person expressing your interest. I doubt most people who didn't get the job do this, which sets you apart....stay in touch with them and leave a positive impression. It can lead you to a yes, even after a no. Good luck. Mike
Actually the sad part is I did try one employment agency and they couldn't find me anything either believe it or not. I forgot I also applied for the Dollar Tree. Which ugh god those bastards. Right after I applied like when I called them back they told me they had decided not to hire anybody. Yeah right! Like they are going to take applications saying they are looking for people and then all of the sudden change there minds and be like oh no sorry we decided not to. I really wanted and needed this job at Cingular Wireless. I think I would have fit in well with the company and it's too bad that they didn't see that. I have nothing against the company though or the person that interviewed me. Infact he was a great guy and seemed really nice and cool. I still think its a great place to work and a good company so I might try to get a job with them in the future again.
First, I really am sorry about your attempt to get that job. Let me share some of the wisdom that I have acquired (I know I am a lot older than most of you here). Other than health concerns, what you are disappointed about, worried about or otherwise unhappy about today, a few years down the road you will be laughing about, if you remember it at all.
Wirelessly posted (Samsung VGA 1000: AU-MIC/2.0 MMP/2.0) Sorry you didn't get the jobs you wamted Dan. Good luck with the job-hunting.
at this point, i think u should remove the moderator thing for WA on ur resume.... esp if ur gonna apply to a wireless company.... goodluck man.
Dan, In the Sunday JC Press there is a want ad (not in the want ad section, I think it was in the sports section) for a Customer Service Rep in the Sprint Johnson City center. It's not Sprint PCS, but I thought you would want to know about it. Good Luck, Mike
Yup it's a good idea... A temp agency here (Kelly Services I think??) had a "wireless rep" posting so I went down and applied, it was for Cingular sales rep in the mall. I got a call the next day saying I was "exactly what she wanted and no interview was needed." The next day Cingular had a hiring freeze. LOL! Thank god that happened because about a week later I got a call from VZW asking for a 2nd interview... (this is after I thought I didn't get the job.) So here I am...
No I will not be dumping Cingular. I'm happy with my service and honestly I hold no hard feelings for them for not getting the job. My friend that got the job had worked at 2 previous call center jobs before so of course he was more qualified then I was. Cingular was a pleasure to deal with too. The guy that interviewed me was very nice and totally made me feel comfortable. I've never felt comfortable with any interview I've had. Cingular has been more straight up front with me then other companies have while I've been hunting for a job. Even though I didn't get the job so far I have to say Cingular has been the best company I've delt with and I came closer to getting a job with them then any other place I've applied at in the last few months. I still fully support the company. I do think Cingular is a good wireless company and one of the better wireless companys to work for.
Well I just got a email from Cingular Wireless today confirming that I did not get the job. I knew I hadn't got it but at least I have confirmation now.
Dan, have you thought about Dixie Pottery in Abongdon, VA? it's not SO far from your area and I saw so many billboards for it while on I-81 last week
I know where that's at. It's kind of a far drive from where I am at now. With gas prices, low type of pay a place like that would pay, and etc... It's not really worth the drive to me. Thanks for the suggestion though neilson.
I drove by the Cingular Call Center today and they had a sign out saying they were hiring.....you might want to call them back, especially since you had a good interview. Call the person you interviewed with and tell them you're still interested. Might just work....
