HTC Optimistic About Windows Phone 7 Despite Limitations « Velocity - Forbes.com
So far from what I heard, WinMob7 is supposed to be a good phone OS. But I think the timing is kind of bad, because with Android gaining so much momentum, I think the bigger question is "Do we really need yet another phone OS?" ...but then it's a free market and the users will decide what they want/like best, so we'll see...
...and on another point, how much "customization" needs to be thrown into the OS? First, there is the OS itself (ex: WinMob), then the phone maker adds a layer of customization (ex: HTC), and then the network operator (ex: Verizon) puts some custom features as well, so by the time it reaches you, the consumer, it's already getting kind of bloated :O It would be nice if they just left it as stripped down as possible and let the users decide what they want to put on.
I don't know... I've been disappointed with Win Mo 6.5 since I've started texting. I'm not sure if its just because I don't know an easier way to do stuff, or is it just that complicated? Picture messages are the worst. The notification pops up. I click on it and the message opens in quick view with the text, and "click to download message. Click, and the message opens in a text application, with the click to download again, click it again and it opens in a second application, where I can finally click to view the attachment. I need to do some serious hacking to make it do what I want, but I've lost interest in hacking this phone since Android has become a viable option for me. I think as soon as I qualify for an upgrade I'm going Android, and never looking back to Win Mobile.
