It was that great philosopher and singer Jimmy Buffett, who said, in his song "Livingston Saturday Night" that: So won't you listen to the sound of the hot country band Boot heels a' shufflin' on the dance floor sound Sing a song, play some pong, shoot a little pool Hittin' on the honeys right outta high school Fifteen may get ya twenty, that's all right 'Cause they'll be rockin' and a rollin' on a Livingston Saturday night Mike
You have great taste! (And it dates you some too. That song is about 25 years old) That one and "Pencil Thin Mustache" are my favorites. I grew up close to his hometown and went to college very close to Livingston. We called it "Shrimp Boat Rock" when I was growing up on the Redneck Rivera. I was a parriot head before there was such a thing. He's an interesting guy. Ever read any of his books? "Where is Joe Merchant" and "Tales From Margaritaville" are very good and "A Pirate Looks at 50" is pretty good too.
Actually, it just gives misinformation about my age...I turned 27 last Saturday. I've read all three of those books too. I guess I'm just a Parrothead.
Shizam i always wanted to tell you that you look just like Gomer Pyle but i thought you might be offended....
That's the beauty of being a Parrothead....it crosses all ages. Remember the short story about High School Football in Tales from Margaritaville? It was set in Heatwave, Alabama. Heatwave is a fictional place based on a real place. I grew up in that place.....
Here is my "hungover at work---taken with my camera phone" picture. Not the best pic, but it will do. Maybe ill get a sexy one with me in leather thongs and a gag ball. Now that would be a priceless image, not to mention disturbing. ha ha, you can see up my nose. too bad cause thats the pic i have.
I've always liked buffett's older stuff, but since I grew up in "Kinja" I'm partial to "Don't Stop the Carnival." Matt happy birthday! Man... I feel old if I'm the same age as that crusty mod.
LOL....nah, not offended. I don't get offended easily, so no worries It's kind of scary...the resemblance. I just noticed it before I posted my "look-a-like" pic.
It would be nice if you could sing like him. Can you? (I'm probably dating myself with that quesiton)
Hmmm...don't know. That show was on WAY before I was around. I've never heard him sing...although I'd like to...I think....to hear what he sounds like.
He was quite an impressive baritone. You would never expect to hear that voice coming out of Gomer! I looked around quickly for some audio but didn't find any--I'll look around some more.
He performed in the Indy 500 this past year. I forgot which song it was, but it was at the beginning, just before the racers started their engines.
Wirelessly posted (Motorola V600: MOT-V600/0B.09.45R MIB/2.2 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.0) Do you expect any less at a forum where guys outnumber girls by probably 100 to 1?
