How convenient for them. FYI. the phone was Nokia 2610. It cost me $30. I can buy the same phone unlocked for $50. So for $20 "subsidy" that you have described, I have used their phone for 15 months (with a monthly average recharge of $25).

Still you think that they own the phone?? Or at least they should provide a stipulated amount of time for which I need to have the phone with them as carrier, after which they can provide me with the unlock code. Looks dirty way of making sure people don't shop around.

Here is a link that can get me the phone for $35.99 + SH.

It does not matter what I think, Mike thinks or the world thinks. It is also not going to get your phone unlocked by being sarcastic or starting out on this website fighting every reply made to your post, or refusing to understand the rationale behind it just because it is not to your liking.

The Nokia 2610 should not be a hard phone to unlock, so try something like this, or some such other free unlock site.

    Do a Google Search please.

    Thank you

if the phone is branded tmobile than if you know someone with a tmobile acct they can request the unlock code for you free and have it emailed to you, otherwise you may have to look third party.

The mistake was yours for not requesting the unlock code for your phone while you were at T-Mobile. T-Mobile has a very liberal unlocking requirement only requiring that you have had the phone for 90 days and have made an airtime minute deposit within 30 days of requesting the code. If you're no longer with T-Mobile they won't provide you with the code since you're no longer a customer. Your mistake was not requesting a code while you still had service with T-Mobile.

I tried to get the unlock code for a motorolla phone we bought 2-3 years ago. It was only like a 29$ phone and I was going to give it to my sister to replace her broken verizon phone. We had refilled it many times (was a gold pre-paid member ) and still had an account with minutes that was recently refilled. They denied my request and said I could wait for 90 days and put in another request. I never did since she canceled verizon and got a iphone a few weeks later.

When it comes to Verizon, this isn't a surprise. CDMA phones aren't always locked as it's not necessary to lock them since SIM cards are not used. Trying to use that Motorola on another CDMA carrier wouldn't have been easy.

T-Mobile and AT&T are GSM, using SIM cards, which is incompatible with CDMA. The world of unlocking is very different between the technologies. Also, it's likely that Verizon Motorola is not locked.
