I can not get steady coverage at my house, with Verizon. When I got the phone, the customer service rep set it to roam all the time, and I got coverage. Was on roam for 8 months. Now its not and I don't have coverage at my house.

I know how to get into the service menu, thinking that should be that way to go.

But not sure where to go from here, or if I am on the right track. Verizon tells me this can't be done, and I haven't been able to get ahold of the orginal rep.

    Thanks

    Sorry that won't achieve anything.

zerk, after you enter the service menu, there should be three options digital only, pcs only, cell only. Your phone is probably set on digital only. One of the last two options will take you to roam only depending on which frequency Verizon uses in your area. Try one & then the other to see which works.

Sorry I don't have one in front of me & can't tell you the exact order they are in.

The other option would be to program in the PRL of Verizon's roaming partner in your area, but typically the first option is commonly used & simpler.

    Btw, welcome to WA :)

The local customer rep got back to me and said to try, band preferences and cell, with the other two options being PCS and any.

So far its working, on extended network. Though I think last time she did something else, cause I thought I was always on roam. The downside of always being on roam, was I could not send pics or connect to internet. I haven't tried either yet. But I got reception.

The offical Verizon customer serive, was total useless.

If *Cell* has put you on roasm, it will keep you on roam always. Verizon must be 1900 or PCS in your area & the roaming partner on 850 MHz or Cell.

As far as I know the only way to fall back is go in there & choose *all* (usually referred as digital only) or to do a *228 & choose option 1, I don't believe choosing option 2 changes anything(not sure about this one).

I am glad it is working for you & sorry I left out the option *band preference*.

I am also in SE WI. Had perfect US cell coverage in my house, with work phone, but Verizon is often no service. I went with Verizon cause they bought Alltell and I spend time in the UP.

Ah! you are then roaming on US Cellular, exactly as I used to do. :) Yes they have great coverage. Alltel did not have a presence, so I don't believe Verizon buying them will improve their coverage.

Alltel, doesn't have a presence down here, but they do in northern WI and UP. Which is why I went with Verizon. Though at times, I think I should have went with US Cell.
