I was looking around and found a new Cingular website oriented for people under 21. Its members are given sneak peeks at phones and can test them before they are released. They also have a point system so that if you earn enough you can win a new phone and lots of other stuff. It is completely free to join and well worth it. This is the job I need for Motorola... they could send me new, untested phones and I could send the phones back with helpful comments like, "Hey, why does the firmware on this phone work like ?" and, "Hey, why is the camera tilted in this handset?" Then I could help create the ultimate handset... the Motorola MPxUltraTimeTAC V. An ultra-thin, ultra-ruggedized handset with a 5.5 MP camera, 8.5 hours of talk time, 300 hours of standby time, a 250x250 pixel, 262,000 color TFT internal LCD, 125x125 pixel external color LCD, 2,000 phone book entries with multiple entries per name including e-mail addresses, BREW 2.1, Transflash Expansion Card, CDMA2000 1xRTT & EDGE, GPRS, Speakerphone, Java J2ME MIDP 2.0, CLDC 1.0, Openwave 6.2, WAP 2.0, Bluetooth, USB port, Infrared, SIM card, RUIM card, POP3/SMTP/IMAP4/Outlook e-mail support, 100MB of internal memory, MP3 & MIDI ringtones, PC Sync with Mobile Phone Tools 3.5 (which I will help design,) iTap 1.5 (which I will help design,) 3 minutes of video capture at 24 FPS including sound, voice dialing, voice notes, calendar, alarm (works even when phone is not on,) MSN & AOL IM, 2-way SMS, GSM 800/GSM 900/GSM 1800/GSM 1900/CDMA 800/CDMA 1900/AMPS 800. 3.5"x 2.0"x1.0" Form factor: Clamshell, internal antenna. I will, however, keep dreaming.
Don't forget about the 3oz weight with battery and both the slim and extended lithium ions are included.
Oh yeah, thanks. Personally, though, I prefer a phone with some heft to it. Can't stand these ultra-small, ultra-light phones. I feel as though I may break them. At least we don't want much... just everything.
Um, do you really have to be under 21? What if you are just slightly over 21? OK, a decade or so over 21? OK, OK, already, Mid 30's, is that OK????

Good one, Rancid, you had me fooled for a bit, until I realized who the "Motorola" contact person was. Very clever!!!
Yeah, I guess you weren't around for my Retro Phones "news release" a few months ago. I get bored easily at work.
I was "guest" at the time. I do remember your "Retro Phones" pretend press release. The thing is that in both cases, I wouldn't have minded if they were both true! I really want to see your Motorola creation!! And I'm also glad it was going to be made available for Verizon , so keep it up!!! :lmao:
Yeah, me too... I think we have a long way to go before we see anything even resembling the MPxUltraTimeTAC V but the retro phones could happen. I know that in Korea they have a CDMA StarTAC redux that is incredible! That's what sparked the whole "retro phone" press release. Imagine what you could pack into a smaller, slimmer, hipper "Ultra Classic III," or some similar phone? I woner if the retro power of the phone would be able to overcome the fact that the phone was larger that most people seem to want... You could make the new, retro Ultra Classic III 1/2 the size of an Ultra Classic II and probably give it an internal antenna, camera, and tons of internal memory with superior battery life because the battery would be huge by todays standards and so would the body of the phone. The more I think about this the more I think I need to send a proposal to Motorola... maybe there's something to this.
