Hmm, I'd bet that you do. With gas prices the way they are, your motorcycle was a good investment. lol... and it's fun to ride as wel!
Motorcycles are popular here in Germany as well since you can squeeze through traffic jams very easily. Most people also prefer getting a moped or a motor scooter in order to count down on their gas usage for the car.
I'm surprised that noone brought this back sooner!!! Now it is very applicable to discuss gas prices in your area. For me, 87 grade was $2.67 for the most part in the morning, but when I left work, all stations were at $2.99 & are holding steady now, so far this morning!!! Share Share Share!!! :O It's the only way I keep my insanity now!!! :loony:
My thread....it's alive, it's alive, IT'S ALIVE! :notworthy :speechles Gas here is $2.71 for regular. I will have to see how much it is when I get home. My uncle is paying $3.20/gallon for regular in Michigan.
On the way to work yesterday, I saw $2.63. Going home, I filled up for $2.71. The Kroger 2 miles from the house was empty all day. This morning, they openned with $2.82 or something. I'm gonna try to start riding the bus. Nashville's MTA and my employer have a nice agreement.... P.S. This is my 1000th post.
Gas is between 1.42 and 1.50 Euros. Prices jumped by 8 cents overnight. I am glad that I don't drive here in Germany, those prices would be killing my wallet. Way to bike to work
My city still doesn't have a good bus system. Maybe we will in another 10 years. Congrats on hitting 1K posts wgray.
$3.09 seems to be the average across central KY right now. STOP FEEDING THE OIL COMPANIES! I pulled into the Kroger this morning and for whatever reason, 87 octane is all that was available. I look over at the pump next to me, and this woman is sitting in a brand new Nissan Altima, she is on her cell phone ranting hysterically to someone (husband?) and has the manual to her car in her lap. I know instantly what is going on... She thinks her car can only run on Premium!!! Newsflash, 9 out of 10 cars on the road DO NOT require premium fuel. Here is the 2005 Government Fuel Economy Listing .PDF File. Cars whos manufacturers actually call for premium are marked with a P in the end column. Most of the vehichles calling for premium are two-seater/sports or luxury vehichles. For those who question this, in short, low octane fuels ignite at lower temperatures which can be harmful to high-performance and/or modified engines.
In my area (the gas stations that actually have gas (which are only about 3-4 instead of the usual 10 or so that are within 5 sq. miles) is as follows: $3.02 for 87 Octane $3.12 for 89 Octane $3.22 for 93 Octane
I saw on the news today they were showing stations in GA getting $ 5.89 a gal of regular I had a hard time paying $3.10 a gal today and Tuesday night it was $2.65, they said expect it to keep going up for at least another few weeks till the 10 refineries in the area of the hurricane are back up & running. Guess I am not going on any special trips for a while. I did see & am waiting a call about going to New Orleans, they requested at least 1000 firefighters from around the country to spend 1 month down there, and am debating going, no beds, military meals & helping people sounds like my kind of month vacation.
What are the gas lines like in the areas where you guys live? Has the hurricane increased the need to get gas in your area?
I posted this in the other gas thread: When I cam home this afternoon from my Friday class, I saw a lot of gas stations that are still out gas. I hope this doesn't keep up, because if it does, then I don't know how I will be getting up to campus.
Costco in my area has a waiting time of 30+ minutes because of people waiting to get gas. This is pathetic. Prices are going up every single day.
Well last night, I had to wait 45 minutes just for the tanker truck to fill up the lines. And then it took me another 10 minutes to wait for the person in front of me to fill up his car and then I filled up my car. So all together, I spent almost an hour at one station.
Lowest Price I've seen this week: 2.84 for Regular at a Big-John's (a small chain around here)... they use exxon gas..
Highest Price I've seen this week 3.89 for premium, 3.39 for regular. Tonight I paid 3.01 per gallon for regular.
I have been seeing 3.39 to 3.49 for regular today, they said in the paper 1 of the pipelines from Louisiana to a refinery in Linden NJ is partially working now, so hopefully they can start making some fuel for the Northeast & Newark Airport, just hope nothing happens since I am sure they will have it running 24-7 at full capacity. I have a feeling people will be seeing 3.75 to 4.00 by next week.
