Adjusted for inflation, gas is cheaper today than it was in the late '70's and early '80's ! Today ~ $2.00 1980"s ~ $3.00 (in today's dollars) And has been relatively stable since 1986! I came across this last year. See http://inflationdata.com/Inflation/Inflation_Rate/Gasoline_Inflation.asp and http://www.randomuseless.info/gasprice/gasprice.html But we can still complain.
I hope we can becuase here is mine: The prices in SE Wisconsin are 2.11, 2.18, and 2.25. Filled up my gas tank today with 18 gallons. My car takes premium...aaargh
Me three. There is only one gas station in my city that is a full-service gas station that I know of. Update: Gas is now 2.03 and in Ft. Myers, it is $2.09 for 87.
In Bullhead gas is $2.15, $2.30, & $2.40. I feel sorry for my mom & her boyfriend, as their new Jetta take premium.
More and more i see automovile manufacturers making cars that only take premium gas, now tell me that gas companies and automovile manufacturers don't have anything to do with this, i'm sure they can make cars that run on plain old regular if they wanted to.... and i don't want to hear about more power crap....end of rant.
I would like to see the auto makers make more hybrid or electric cars, more then make cars that take regular gas. Also the major reason gas is so high is its traded on the market in US$, and right now the dollar is very weak.
Salt Lake City area: Regular: 1.84-1.99 Mid Grade: 1.94-2.09 Premium: 2.04-2.19 Regular used to be anywhere between 1.71-1.79 a few weeks ago.
[rant] You know, if we(the US people/gov./corps) decided to build 3 nuclear powerplants (I know I said that ugly, dirty word NUCLEAR) we could go back to the days of sub $1.50 premium. Why? Demand for oil would go down and prices would have to match. Now on to the whole NUCLEAR concept. FACT: Nuclear power has killed approx. 3000 people in its history. Coal has killed over 100 times that. One of the surviving engineers from Chernobil said in a recent interview that as long as Saftey is the primary concern, Nuke power is the way to go on all fronts.
