I have AllTel, T-Mobile, AT&T prepaid phones in my possession. My Boost Mobile account is active but I returned the phone and didn't zero out that account! I have had the T-Mobile and AllTel accounts for 2 years and the AT&T for 3 months.
That's because the question was about prepaid accounts. You are of course welcome to make a poll and ask whatever question you wish about accounts. 0 accounts would be a silly choice when you ask how many prepaid accounts you have unless you just like answering or participating in polls for no reason.
But I didn't answer in this poll because zero is not there. When it comes to the question "How many active prepaid accounts do you have?," my answer is zero. I can't say anything else because it would be false. What's wrong with zero?
Tell ya what. Next time I make a poll asking how many prepaid accounts people have I'll put zero even though that's really silly. It's assumed if you don't respond you don't have a prepaid account. I can't see the point other than to let anyone participate in the poll even if it doesn't have anything to do with them. I didn't think people really wanted to participate in a poll if the question doesn't apply to them.
I'd be really interested in understanding why people have more than one phone active (assuming it's for your personal use..i.e. not for other family members). One phone for voice, another for texting, another for walkie-talkie? Cheers, PrepaidWirelessGuy
Mine happened for a variety of reasons. I first got a prepaid 206-407-XXXX since my sister was coming to this country for an extended visit and she needed a mobile phone and partly because she didn't know where her "permanent" address was so I sent her the first TMTG. My brother-in-law came later and he needed a phone as well and so I got him a second line 206-403-XXXX. When they left the states I kept 407-XXXX for myself to use at home with my "Cellsocket" since I don't have regular land line service. At night I usually turn off my regular mobile number and have it forward to the Cellsocket which holds my Nokia 6310i where one of the prepaid lines is. The other line 403-XXXX I keep just to waste time as I use it to check CNN for news etc. My two other prepaid accounts are foreign (the Netherlands and Israel) and I use those when I'm over there. The T-Mobile NL account only has to have a chargeable call every six months and the Orange IL I only need to add money (50 shekels) once a year which makes it convenient for me when I go to visit.
Prepaid wireless is relatively cheap, depending on your needs. I paid $60 for my AllTel phone 2 years ago. I am under their old system, where you just make a billable one minute call every 30 days to avoid a $4 monthly fee... At that rate its easier to maintain the account than to cancel it. My T-Mobile account is also 2 years old and I got it for network test and for possible use overseas use... I got it unlocked. Also, I managed to get Gold Rewards and I just have to refill every year... Might as well maintain it than to cancel it. I got the AT&T phone for coverage and network testing... I decided to keep it instead... May sell it eventually, I don't know. I paid $30 for the GSM phones.
In addition to my AT&T postpaid, I have seven prepaid phones: Three of them are glovebox phones. I have one in each car, so that I will never be without a phone, in the event that I forget my main phone. Two of them are strategically placed in my home. (I do not have a landline). They ensure that I can call home, in the event that my wife and kids forget to have their phones turned on. One of those phones has a number that was ported from my former Qwest landline in 2005, so I can still receive voicemail from anyone who still might call that number. I have one STi Mobile phone. The main purpose of that one is WAP internet access. It is less expensive than if I had it on my postpaid. One of my T-Mo phones is for receiving voicemail. By my choice I do not have voicemail on my main phone (AT&T postpaid), but on rare occasions, I want to be reachable via voicemail, so I sometimes set my main phone to forward to the T-Mo for that purpose. I also use that phone for the free T-Zone access. One more purpose of my PagePlus phones is to fill in the holes in GSM coverage when I travel to northern Wisconsin. PagePlus CDMA works in areas that are GSM deadzones. Bob233
Same as KyleAndMelissa22. Zero is my answer. A question is posed, and that is my answer. What if I created a poll asking how many Motorola phones everyone had, and didn't include zero as an option? I'm sure there are lots of folks out there that do not have Motorola phones, just as there are lots of people that don't have prepaid service. -Jay
4 active prepaid for me. Not counting the fifth active one because I got it for my sister as it's not being used anymore and will expire in January.
Thanks for the info for those who have responded. It's very interesting to see the different uses. Makes complete sense. Sounds like a pain to keep everything charged though ;-). Cheers!
Of the 4 prepaid phones I have I charge one of them once a year. The other three I only charge if the balance gets really low and there's significant usage looming ahead.
I have one in my car in case my main phone dies or I forget it. I really don't see a need to have anymore because I really don't call anyone that much as I used to. Everyone I know I text. But I'm with Telekom. Not trying to be mean, this thread is asking how many you have, not if you have one or not.
Make sure you have it charged or have a CLA available. Otherwise an "emergency" phone won't do you much good.
Two. T-Mobile USA Vodafone New Zealand Both only need to be re-charged once per year. Both are used in a V1 iPhone. I don't have much use for a mobile at home, so almost all usage is used while travelling. I only used about $30 worth on the T-Mobile the first year.
Lol, yeah, I'm sure its still charged and active because it gets some usage because as soon as I got done posting I went out and I forgot my main phone. haha.
LOL Go figure I did the same exact thing too. Left my phone in the house and had to use the pre-paid...
I don't know what you will consider as "active".. But I have T-Mobile US fully active and Plus GSM only receiving SMS and calls...
That sucked! I did that 2 weeks back and I was stuck using my AllTel prepaid phone.... And it was awful since that phone is a basic no frills phone. My main phone is a Verizon BlackBerry and I was saddened the whole time I was without it lol
