I'm switching my number over to AT&T for the iPhone and was wondering if anyone knew how long they give you to pay it before turning it over to collections. I'm deffinatly going to pay it, just may not have the money to pay the ETF til late January maybe early February.

    Thanks for any help!

Or if there even is one. My brothers phone is in my name to and he just told me there wouldn't be one cause I still have a phone with them technically. There on separate plans, not a family share. Thanks!

What you're saying isn't completely accurate. You may still have an account with Verizon, but you pay the ETF per line. You move your line over to AT&T before your contract ends, you will pay an ETF. Whether it's eligible for the declining ETF amount depends on when you started/renewed your contract.

Since you stated you have two lines, each on it's own account, the ETF rules still apply.

As to your original question, I wouldn't let it stretch out any more than 30 days after the end of the billing cycle you cancelled your service in.

You may need to call Verizon to clarify some things.

Hello Gnarkills, usually payments are due 3 weeks after your billing cycle ends & that's when your ETF will also be due.

If you can pay the ETF in early February, I suggest you wait until mid January to port over. No sense getting a blemish on your credit rating for just 2 weeks.
