Been with Verizon since the Fall of 2002 when we bought our first cell phone for our older daughter at a local Radio Shack. She was turning 16, and getting ready to drive, so we thought it would be a good idea for her to have a phone, just in case ... :D

We've been with Alltel since they bought out CenturyTel in 2002 or whenever that was, but if you trace it back its been over 15 years.

My parents started with CenturyTel somewhere between 1991-1993. They had a bag phone that I remotely remember. They found some old monthly statements from 1993 a couple months ago and they showed that they used generally between 4-15 minutes monthly!

I was added to our family plan in 2005.

This will probably be our last year with any incarnation of Alltel because we're probably switching to AT&T when our contract ends in August.

It's my fourth year using Telkomsel's product, starting with prepaid card simPATI and last three years using post paid kartu HALO.
Proud to using it, now it's the only operator with HSDPA coverage here in my city :)

I'm with AT&T now and have been for about 7 months, but I'm not very happy with their coverage basically anywhere. I'm probably switching back to Verizon either just as my 2-year contract ends or sometime before.

My cell phone history: CellularOne/Dobson --> Nextel --> CellularOne/Dobson --> Verizon (using Thumb Cellular mainly) --> AT&T. Being with Dobson TWICE before, you would have thought I would have learned my lesson about their spotty coverage, but the iPhone was just too irresistible! I know that Thumb Cellular offers the best coverage in my area, but I'm not willing to go to a carrier who only covers 3 counties natively, 2 of which I never go to, and I can barely stand to be in my own for long periods of time.

I've also briefly tested out Sprint phones and a MetroPCS phone in areas around me as well as my home town. Sprint works just as well as Nextel does (hardly) and MetroPCS does not work in my area, only in the major cities near me.

and little inside info: Ed Whitacher, before his retirement held a company video conference. He was asked about renaming Cingular. His tongue-in-cheek response was: "Its my company, I can do what I want."

For you guys out there CellularOne is back in Montana. Chinook wireless (AT&T uses their backbone out here) got the rights to change their name to CellularOne mid 2008. Just thought you'd like the thought of an old name being brought back to life.

I had to look up an old thread of mine, because I didn't remember this correctly. I was with ATTWS -> Cingular for 6 1/2 years, but left around the time of the new AT&T rebranding (still have my old LG CU500 with Cingular branding, which I use occasionally). I've been with T-Mobile for just over 2 years. Have had Verizon as a business mobile carrier.

Yeah, it's funny that Pacific Bell had its original PacTel Cellular from the early days (1980s) until April 1994 when it was officially spun-off as a separate company to be known as AirTouch, which would eventually become one of the parts that became Verizon Wireless.

Then you have PacBell PCS, which began in 1996 or so on the 1900mhz PCS spectrum which would become Cingular as Pacific Telesis was bought by SBC (One of Cingular's parents), which we now know as AT&T.

The two biggest mobile rivals are technically siblings (at least in L.A. and other parts of California and Nevada, which were old Pacific Telesis' service areas)...Go fig? :loony:

I started with Cellular One in Chicago back in '96. Then switched to Sprint in '97/'98 and stayed with them until '07 when I started working as a tech for Verizon. That %20 discount was sa-weet! :)

Now that I'm not working for them anymore I'm considering the switch back to Sprint. Sitill have a few months 'til my contract is up so maybe then.

Started out with GTE Wireless in 1998-99, which was very brief before they became Verizon Wireless. I think the 1st phone I had with them was a single-band VX-111?!? :smilebig:

Signed up with T-Mobile in 1995...been with them ever since.
