Assuming you're asking about the day the screenshot was taken and NOT about the first day I had the phone :D

I was at home all day, so the phone was idling most of the time, with me just responding to notifications and playing a few rounds of Angry Birds 2 (the sharp drops in the chart). During the night it was just idling (processing notifications, but not alerting and wasn't being picked up).

BTW, I'm employing a new tactic in charging given the Nexus 6P's doze mode and rapid charging. I used to just plug in the phone before I went to bed. Now I don't plug it in until I get up in the morning and go to the gym. With rapid charging it's back at 100% by the time I come back and am ready to go to work.

That rapid charging is pretty slick. I have it on my Zenphone 2.

I plug in my phone in the evening when at home, otherwise I charge it overnight.

Battery has been abysmal because I have been using more Google related items. Also, I have been on the phone constantly. As a result, the phone never really sleeps. I have been employing the battery saver during the day. Reception at work sucks, draining the battery further. I am thankful for quick charging.

I thought the time rolled over into days when it exceeded 24 hours. I just noticed that not be the case.

    When did this happen?

I've noticed the same with my 6 plus, and more so after the software upgrade

The 6 plus battery life is phenomenal, as it is with most large screened phones. Volume increase with screen area increase really favors battery life.

It certainly does, but even a large screen phone's battery life will degrade depending on how many apps you have installed and how often it's used, in my case my phone even serves as a tablet thanks to it's large screen which is all I need now a days so battery will need to be charge before day's end.

Wow, there hasn't been any posts on this for over a year. Doesn't anyone care about battery life anymore or has technology improved enough that battery is no longer a concern.

In any case, let's if we can revive this thread, there have been lots of new changes since the last post.

Here is my usage from last night, it was a pretty average day.

Oh no. Technology HASN'T improved to help battery life. The Sammy S7 and now S8 have LESS battery life than my coming up on 3 years old Note 4. That doesn't even make sense.

I have an extended battery shoved in my Note 4 (6,000 mAh) and I still have to give it an extra charge mid point of the day to get it to last all night. And now, with the slick stingy manufacturers SEALING batteries in, if I got an S8 I would not be able to put an extended battery in. Who knows how many times I'd have to charge each day. I can't even think about it.

My only option for a removable battery is an LG G....something. And yeah....no.

Yes, that's been the hardest for me to give up as well. I don't understand what all the craze about sealed batteries is.

Supposedly sealed batteries make the phone thinner which supposedly people want. Also sealing them is how they are getting these "water resistant" models which I guess supposedly people want.

Yeah, the phones got so thin I have to put a case on just to overcome the thinness and get a comfortable hold :) As for the water resistance, a simple o-ring should be good enough, or whatever it was that the Samsung Active series was doing to get the water resistance while having a removable battery.

I've had a couple of phones and tablets with sealed batteries. After 3 years of daily charging, your battery isn't going to be what it was when it was new.

You can normally find a YouTube video on how to replace it. You may have to buy a special tool like a super small torx bit. It can be a pain to do, but at least you can normally do it.

I used to charge my phones in the middle of the day and did have an extended battery for the two Treos. The Blackjack came with two batteries, should have known that meant the battery life was worthless.

I haven't had to do that for a good 3-4 years, so the batteries have either improved or the phones have become more efficient or a combination there of.

I dunno, my wife charges her iPhone 6+ 2-3 times a day, so the usage must be a factor, too.

I have a Samsung S6 Edge that I can get no more than 48 hours out of a full battery. The latest update that VZW pushed last week provides me with more control with power profiles but it hasn't helped much. I bought the phone in near new condition from Fleabay and it's about 22 months old now but still going strong otherwise. Restarting it often seems to be the only solution I've found to increase battery life. The reason I reboot often is that updates rollout in spades each day, so there seems to be some benefit in the tried and true method of restarting, even though it doesn't prompt me to.

Here is my battery usage screen shot.

    Not bad at all.

@dmapr even the small screen 7 is a big improvement. More than the plus size was over the 6.

@viewfly, a small screen phone was never a consideration. It just doesn't make any sense to buy a last year's model at this point.

Vf, that's amazing battery life. I can easily match your standby time but not usage.

If I may ask what are your top 5 in usage?

    Thanks

    Charlyee,

From memory for that screen shot, it was, in descending order, NY Times app, Safari, Mail, Twitter. I don't remember the 5th, but it was single digit by then. NY Times was in the mid 30% range. ( a lot of Trump news to read )

No audio listening from phone based MP3's and such. I agree it is very good. I really don't look at Battery usage much, but last night I forgot to connect the charger. So I was curious why I woke up and it was 57% or so.

My new S8 has much better battery life than my previous LG G4 had. Not sure if it's because of Android 7 vs 6 or it could just be because it's new. But I can now go a whole day in between charges unless I overuse the internet of course.

By the way hello to my old WA friends! Charlyee I knew you'd still be here posting! Big shout out to Kevin James who was here with me from the beginning! Lots of great memories here from my younger days on the web!

The battery life on my 7+ had taken a dive after iOS 11, but one or more of the recent updates made it almost back to normal.

I believe I could have gone another day even

Not sure which update I should give credit to, anyone else?

I don’t check this stats very much anymore. And I charge every night whether or not it is needed. However, I didn’t observe any significant change with the recent iOS upgrades. But my observation doesn’t mean much, since I’m looking into it very carefully.
