I'm wanting to switch to T-Mobile for a G1. But I want to make sure call quilirt and availability will work OK in the NW hills of Connecticut (Torrington/Thomaston/Bristol/Burlington) area of the state. I have used the coverage tool and it looks a bit weak; BUT I would perfer to see what people here think. I also travel to VT/NH for pleasure in the winter months and any input on that as well Thanks and I hope to make the switch soon.... John
The hills of NW Connecticut are BEAutiful!! (I went on a road trip up there this past summer - while visiting some relatives on the coast). I had my Samsung Katalyst with me... which is an okay RF performer. I'd have to say that coverage in this area is acceptable - considering how rural it truly is. I got service in a few of the towns although it was spotty out on the roads. T-Mobile does offer a 14-day (i think) test run of their service... I would use that to the fullest extent. See if it works for you. I would get the G1 and just take a little ''road trip'' through the hills to see how service is.
Coverage in the NW area of CT is ok at best. I remember being in Torrington last summer and not being able to make calls in buidlings. Coverage on RT 8 North of Torrington is nonexistant. I would stick w/ Verizon in that area. I would get a prepaid phone and see if the coverage on T-Mobile will suit you. Good Luck. Nextel is also right, the area is beautiful!
Thanks for the feedback I was hoping since last year they would have added a tower or two in Torrington area... Thanks again john
