Hi, I have had my MOTORIZR Z6 for a long time but have not tried to upload any videos I took with it onto my laptop. I know I was able to do it on my old computer.

I can locate the files and even copy them to my hard drive, but they won't open. I get a message saying something about a .3gp file extension that Windows Media player can't open. Perhaps there is some other program needed. I tried to download a program to open the 3gp and that was unsucessful.

My laptop is having some other issues and I don't know if it is related. Those issues have been going on for a while and I am still under warranty so I am going to get that taken care of, but I wanted to try and upload some awesome video I shot with my phone.

    Thanks for any help
    Sidney

I don't know if there is a pluggin for windows media player to play .3gp videos, but I have seen software that will convert .3gp to .mpg. Also, on my old Motorolas I'm quite sure I set them to record in .mpg, but I'm sure I hacked the phone to enable that. I don't think it was a standard menu option.

    Can't Apple's QuickTime play .3gp videos?

I don't think so, but then again I don't use Quicktime. I make a point of deleting anything put out by Apple from my computer...

LOL. I am fairly certain I have played .3gp files on my Mac through QuickTime.

But I think the most direct way is to call the customer services hotline. Why not?
