Ok, guys, so I feel kind of dumb because my phone has outwitted me. I have some <Snip>pictures that I'm trying to get from my computer to my phone. How would I get it on if I have already tried to put it directly onto the external card. But when I put the card back in the phone, it doesn't show up. Am I just doing something wrong or do I need to do something with pic formats? thanks in advance

Use the phone to format or initialize the memory card. That may create a folder where the pictures should go. Then copy your pictures to that folder. The phone may only look for pictures in that specific folder and ignore everything else.

What kind of phone? If it is a droid once it is connected to the computer, check notifications on the droid and you will see the USB card, select Mount. The SD card will show up like a thumb drive and you can just copy the pictures to the card that way. One thing to remember if the card is mounted, you cannot use the droid itself to then view the pictures or the SD card until you un-mount the card, or disconnect it from the computer.
