I have t mobile and i get 1 bar outside my house, and usually dont get any inside the house. Everywhere else i go i get full reception. But id like better reception at home, is there a place i can ask if there are any plans to build a tower near me? Or how do i ask them to put one near me. Ive been waiting patiently for a year since tmobile is so much better than other companies ive tried. Thanks
not really. if your in a residential area, especially suburban, its sometiems hard for carriers to provide great coverage, as no one wants a tower up in their back yard...
since you've tried every othre company...why dont u try verizon...they have pretty good coverage in nyc....they have trial period for 14 days and se if it works for you...t-mobile will probably never place a new tower up just for one customer no company will...try out verizon you might be suprised...if not you have even more of a reason to stay with tmobile and wait till they get better coverage..
You may wish to try a carrier that offers an 800MHz based network instead of PCS1900 which generally sucks in most residential areas due to the smaller footprint of PCS sites. Verizon, AT&T TDMA and Nextel offer such service in your area. As pointed out in prior posts, use the trial period and test the phone from whatever provider you choose and make sure it works where you need it to. DON'T trust a salesman's promise of coverage on a particular street. Test it for yourself. Use the trial period.
The best thing to do is call customer care and complain. Also when you sign in to mytmobile, at the bottom there is a link to report coverage problems. No guarantees.
Go get youself a decent external antenna for your phone that you can mount outdoors. A good one with a decent amount of gain will run from $50-100 plus about $10 for the adapter to your specific phone. You should also put your phone into Field Test mode (or borrow a phone that already has it) and find the nearest towers to your house to better help you direct your antenna. Don't expect anything from your provider. Getting permits and clearance to put up a tower can take years, so unless they are already well into the process, nothing will change anytime soon.
PCS carriers buildout more for population coverage, and the old line cellular guys buildout more for area. I have highly populated areas here that VZN flakes out on for example. If you are in a residence area, maybe they can "re-orientate" an antenna element of an existing array/site that is relatively near you. Or, it is possible there is a problem with an existing site. Give it try. Call and/or write/e-mail, and be reasonably intelligent, calm about it.
Wo wo hold up people. Check his profile, he has a t68i, the worst reception GSM phone posssibly of all time. Dude, try a better reception phone in your house. Seriously. You dod a search for t68i onj this forum and you will find yourself reading HUNDREDS of posts saying the same thing. The phones reception sucks. Try a better phone first.
You can ask but it won't do any good. You signed a contract and you've got them exactly where they want you. Excerpt from the T-Mobile service agreement: "Service Availability. Service is available to your Unit only when we feel like allowing you to make wireless telephone calls. Coverage maps you may have viewed are drawn by blind monkeys; actual service coverage and quality will vary. There are huge freakin' gaps in Service within the misleading service areas shown on coverage maps. Service is prone to unavailability, including emergency situations, transmission limits, network problems or limitations, your equipment, problems associated with interconnecting carriers, buildings, tunnels, flying pigs, the apocalypse, signal strength and atmospheric or topographical conditions, and may be interrupted, dropped, refused, limited, or curtailed. We may impose credit, usage or Service limits, suspend Service, or block certain categories of calls (e.g., important ones) in our sole discretion to protect users or our business and our profits. Service shall not be transferred to another market except at our discretion, and We may impose transfer fees and limit the markets available for transfers. We are not liable for any Service limits, failures or outages, including without limitation, the failure of a 9-1-1 emergency call to be connected or completed (see paragraph 15). Location services, including 9-1-1 location services may not be available in your area and are subject to the Service limitations in this paragraph 5." Damn that Catherine Zeta-Jones, Damn her and her Evil GSMpire!
You thought that was funny? Read this... and I swear I didn't make a word of this one up: "Limitation of Liability. We shall not be liable for any deficiency in performance caused in whole or in part by act or omission of an underlying carrier or service provider, dealer, equipment or facility failure, Unit failure, network problems, lack of coverage or network capacity, equipment or facility upgrade or modification, acts of God, strikes, fire, terrorism, war, riot, emergency, government actions, equipment or facility shortage or relocation, or causes beyond our reasonable control, including without limitation the failure of an incoming or outgoing call, including a 9-1-1 emergency call, to be connected or completed or for the functionality of location services, including 9-1-1 location services." ...acts of God, strikes, fire, terrorism, war, riot, emergency, government actions, lions and tigers and bears, Oh my! Geeze, talk about depressing. Sounds like the Patriot Act.
I'm not goin to complain like a maniac, i just want to let t-mobile know that the reception where I live isn't the best. They don't have me exactly where they want me, cus i've been with the other carriers and tmobile is a puppy compared to the rest of the pack. Fortunately I don't use my phone too often and don't mind the low recption as long as the company is decent. I wouldn't change my service for someone like ATT even if they give a years worth of free airtime and got 100% coverage. I would be completely satisfied if I could get one stable bar on my t68i, which si a great phone, although I may need to upgrade to a 610 or maybe a z600 when it comes out Anyways I will submit that coverage interruption thing on their website, I hope it works sometime in the future
One stable bar is not going to happen at 1900Mhz. Move your phone 2 inches and the bar may be gone.....besides, you got the worst phone to have any hopes. I'd suggest get a real phone like a Nokia and buy an external antenna. This way, you'll get the bar that you need in a very inexpensive way.
How do you ask for better reception? Easy, change your wireless provider to one that works in your area.
