Okay - I have been with Alltel for years but recently they have been horrible. I was dropping calls constantly with my LG AX8600 (second phone) I brought it in and they said it was the phone and would replace it. Sounds good right.......... Well they give me this LG AX565- ugliest phone ever. It won't allow me to use my mp3's as ringtones - overall just unhappy!!! Initally I offered to pay more for a different phone...they said I couldn't. I then went back and spoke to the girl I have been dealing with for 5 years she wanted to help- manager said no. I then left and call CS they said there is nothing they can do. I'm feeling like I should just buy out of my contract and leave. Any suggestions?????
there are many other carriers that are good in that area, ATT and USCellular are both good there i believe
Thats my problem the only other carrier we have (in the UP) in cell-one and I have not had the best of luck with them in the past as far as reception. However I think AT&T bought them out - is that correct?
Does the LG AX565 work, though? Did it fix the issues with signal that you were having? I mean, technically, it isn't Alltel's job to supply you with a phone. If your AX8600 was still under warranty, you could have sent it to LG to be repaired but then you would have been without a phone. Alltel replaced your AX8600 with an AX565, which is equivalent to the AX8600. I know you're not as happy with the AX565 but, frankly, if it allows you to make calls when your other phone won't, it seems like you're better off. They replaced one phone with another, which they didn't have to do and no, the AX565 is not the ugliest phone ever. That honor goes to the Kyocera KX1 'SoHo'.
Yes it is working and I know it sounds shallow but I did pay almost $200 for the phone I wanted (most shallow part prob was the looks) now I am stuck with this. I think it is just the fact that they don't seem to "get it". Yes - I think they were obligated (so they tell me) to replace it because it was under factory warranty. I guess they don't carry the 8600 anymore
Yes, At&t did buy them. But that doesn't mean anything. Coverage will not instantly get better because At&t bought them.
it doesn't matter which phone you get from any of the providers out there not many of them willallow mp3's as ringtones. there are workarounds to that though i suggest using google and taking a look at hofo since there are ways to solve this issue. besides that before i payed a $200 etf you could just buy a few ringtones through your phone if that's the only thing bugging you about alltel than that would solve that and it would still save you a lot of money.
And to add to this, At&t is not known as the most "consumer friendly" company. You may just go from bad to worse IMHO if you switch.
Yeah, the only two cell phone carriers in the Upper Penninsula are Alltel and AT&T. Probably the best carrier coverage-wise up there is going to be Alltel. Also, like a previous post said, AT&T's costomer service isn't as good as Alltel's. And AT&T's customer service is definitely worse than CellularOne/Dobson's was when they were around.
Yep, only carriers alltel and dobson/att. Alltel is still your best bet for coverage. I recommend switching to a Motorola. Pre-buyout the only places where att has good coverage is Detroit. Out side of that it is not as good, same with Verizon. Although they did just buy dobson who did put up decent coverage. But in my experiences over the area Alltel is still better overall. But it all depends on specific area. And since you just states cellone/dobson didn't cover your area well, I would not jump ship. You will likely end up more unhappy. At&t isn't going to concentrate on building out like dobson did. That's what separates the large regional and the national carriers. The regional ones build out their network well whether you are in rural or city. I've been hearing a lot of complaints about the 8600 reception on other forums, etc. Maybe some of them just weren't made as well.
I know Alltel is better ( I have used cellone in the past) - mp3's are not my only issue, but I guess I have resigned myself to the fact that I am stuck. Thanks for the advice everyone I will take the advice about the ringtones -I was wondering about a workaround (mp3's):browani:
On the 8600 you could rename the MP3 to a QCP and it would be savable as a ringtone. I would download my MP3 and it would suffice af a QCP. I wonder if the same trick works on the 565? As far as you getting screwed, you really aren't. The 8600s are good phones and the 565 was a replacement for the Wave as far as I can tell.
OK - This just sucks!!! I finally felt better about my phone; bought a cover, like the mp3, and figured out ringtones. Now the darn thing is dropping calls worse than my 8600!!!!! What gives? If anyone has ANY advice I would really appriciate it.
