Ha! and the cow jumped over the moon! Where to these people come from? Surely this is the reason Cingular is the largest carrier in the US. No truth. Come roam in CT, and you'll be fine. Or NY,MA, TX, OK, NH,DC,MD,PA,MI,IN,IL,CA,...Paris,London,Germany... I guess it's called Best Buy, not best advice!
i appreciate your replies. guess the only way is to find out for myself. i'll give cingular a try in the next few weeks and hopefully it will work for me.
Your welcome. The 30 day trial is the best idea. If it was me, I'd avoid best buy,and go straight to the store, or web site, www.cingular.com. Sometimes the prices are better on-line for phones. They deliver the phone Fedx to your door, with everything you need, and you just call a toll free number to activate. I've done it a couple of times. Works fine.
what's the policy for upgrading phones with cingular? for vzw, you have to wait 10-12 months before being able to upgrade your phone at the promotion price and not have to pay retail.
I thought Verizon was new every 2. Anyway, Cingular is new every 2, but more precisely, they only make you wait 21 months and you get any new phone at the new customer rate, if you resign a contract of course. Give them a call...a lot of your basic questions can be answered with C/S.
No, this is BS, he's assigned to the VZW counter and does not want to move to the other counter. He's not qualified to make comments he should be fired.
I am not sure if there is a time limit on porting your number but when I ported my number in to Cingular, I was given a random number. I tried the phone and the service for a week and decided to keep it and then ported the number. There wasn't any problems with the porting at all but a year and a half later, I see both the numbers on my OLAM even though the first number was only active for a week.
If you sign a two year contract. The New Every Two program is intended to retain existing customers - re-up your two year agreement and you get $100 off your new phone. But if you sign a 1 year contract, you can upgrade at the end of your contract - you just don't get the 'loyalty' bonus. I MIGHT buy this if VZW had been at Best Buy first, but the GSM carriers (and Sprint) were at Best Buy long before VZW finally stormed the gates. I find it unlikely that someone would ONLY be trained on VZW - in fact, I'd think it's more likely that a longterm employee would be trained on Cingular/Sprint/TMo and wouldn't want to learn VZW's system.
New every 2 in the sense that every 2 years vzw gives you $100 towards the purchase of a phone. But on the other hand, you're eligible for an upgrade after having your phone for 10 months; so you would qualify for the promotional price of the phone of your choice at that time. so for instance, i've had my 8100 for only 6 months, so if i wanted to get, say the razr from vzw, i would have to pay full retail of $499 or whatever it is instead of the promo price of $199 with resigning a 2 year contract if i had my 8100 for 10 months or more. just wanted to know if cingular had something similar, since i like to upgrade my phones as frequently as i can.
He works in the Computer Printer Ink Section but since no one was buying ink he was temporarily covering the Cellular Phone Dept.
Ok, I understand now. That is a little different from Cingular. At 2 years, you don't get $100 credit, but many phones are free. On the average it probably works out pretty close. In the Cinguler stores, you can sign for a 1 year contract and pay a little more for the phone, then two year. And you can pay full price with no contract. That is not offered on line. BTW, I have ordered over the phone with cingular and they give you on line prices, and it is a little more assuring than just using a web page for me.
About two or three years ago, I used Verizon while I was working for T-Mobile in Bergen, Union, Passaic, etc - man - I feel for you. Anyway, I was looking for new sites for T-mobile, so naturally I used a carrier who had coverage in areas where I was working. Anyway, your actual coverage has little to do with the handset or the technology a company advertises. New Jersey is difficult now for all carriers because usage is high and so is NIMBYism. It's just damn hard to get a new site anywhere in that state.
VZW used to have a Coverage Advantage, but Now that Coverage Advantage Isn't there Anymore. It's now only a Perception.
okay, so when i try cingular's 30 day trial period, any suggestions for phones? i'm leaning towards the black moto razr.
I agree, if you're going to try out Cingular and if a flashy phone is important to you, then go for the RAZR. I loved the phone itself, Cingular service just didn't cut it for me.
Having fun is'nt wasting time. Though i thought Andy was'nt talking to Me but i consider him my friend.
The V3 Razr is a cool, flashy phone, but the reason I recommend it is because it preforms very well, especially in low signal areas. -Jay
Yes a waste of my time. But it is fun. BTW when you are driving around field in your little coverage truck is VF sitting next to you on top of the other phones?
Jones, Yes, I was talking to macsesso, but I do consider you my friend, sort of. What I was trying to tell macsesso is to not waste his time, because Jones knows that cingular is the best everywhere, anytime, period, and there is no need for an argument. Have a nice day everyone.
I'm kinda like that except instead of Cingular being the best 100% of the time, I believe that Cingular is the best 99 & 44/100% of the time. -Jay
This is the second thread I've seen this reference from you....is that your new slogan??? Wow, must have taken you long to come up with that one.
