WOW, i havent been here for a while, i think the last time i was logged in here is when coreythegent was actually able to see mcnabb throw a touchdown pass. the v810, still from my sources will be out in december. this is ACTUALLY a VERY nice phone, i dont see why people dont like it. it has changeable face plates, and oled scrolling outter display, cdma plus analog, large (bigger than v600) 262k screen, with a nice blue backlight keypad. the only thing this phone lacks is bluetooth... it has a camera. it has flash, it has polyphonic ringontes, mms, ems, sms... it uses moto interface(which is among the best). battery life is almost 4 hours. AND LAST THING IS.... NO ONE KNOWS THIS, I DIDNT KNOW UNTILL TODAY.... the "motorola" sign on the front flashes different colors.. ALL THIS ON VERIZON!!!!! anywayz, people are underestimating this phone. On paper it IS BETTER than the v600 minus bluetooth(its also smaller than the v600) doesnt matter to me, i got a job at ATT wireless (the v600 will be out mid-november for att) so i will have both the v600(fo free!!!!) and the v810 peace all, ill stop by here more often... have been on howard for the past couple months peace!! p.s. - corey, the eagles are going nowhere!! lets see FEELY GET A START
I couldn't find any info on phonescoop.com. I don't know how I feel about the Motorola M changing colors but with the exception of lacking Bluetooth it sounds like a pretty cool phone. I'll have to check it out and maybe this will be my solution to having no CDMA v600.
Does anyone know when the v810 will be released? Will it be released before Christmas, and if so, when? Thanks Gamer
I'm curious - what's your source on the "color changing Moto logo" you mentioned? All reports up to this point have indicated that the Moto logo housed the camera's flash. I'll agree with you that, on paper at least, this phone more than holds it's own with the v600, and even manages to best it in a few areas, including screen size and resolution. But I think the major problem people have with the v810 (myself included) is that, from a design standpoint, the v810 is haunted by the ghosts of the v7XX, whereas the v600 has a direct design lineage to the v60. There's also a concern that with shared lineage comes shared problems - where the v60 had very few problems reported in it's 2+ years on the market, look at how many threads there are about critical, crippling problems with the v7XX. Bluetooth, too, is a major consideration these days, especially since more and more PDAs and computers are supporting Bluetooth connections - I know that I would love to have a BT phone to pair with my Tungsten|T handheld for web access. My major qualm with the v810 is the keypad - where the v600 clearly uses individual keys (metal, plastic, who knows, but it doesn't really matter), the v810 seems to have a membrane keypad, at least according to the pictures I've seen. Now, I'll grant you, Moto's product portfolio page says that the v810 also has external picture Caller ID, and the picture shows a B/W LCD, so it's possible the images we've seen aren't accurate, but I'm not holding out hope. In any event, I know I'm personally waiting for number portability to kick in before I do anything. By then the v600 should show up somewhere, and, assuming Vyruz is right, the v810 should be popping up as well. (As a side note to the whole football issue, I have to say that I'm kind of on the fence on McNabb. On the one hand, I'm a Giants fan, so I've hated the Eagles from birth. But on the other hand, I'm a Syracuse University alumni, and McNabb was our star QB when I was in school - so I want to support him. I dunno.)
Gamer - The release date seems to be a debate right now. Some people say no new moto phones will be out this year...while Vyruz just said it will be out in December. the only way to find out is to wait and see...This phone does look pretty nice. (it is not the most attractive phone but it has pretty much everythign one would need in a small package)
That's a good point orioles150. Motorola would be smart if they released a phone that has good reception, no "bugs" in it, has a good sharp screen display, and has a top quality camera, like the LG VX6000 has. If they accomplish all the above, then they would definitely have a phone that is able to compete with the VX6000. IMO, they would be smart to release the phone in early December, so it could compete with the VX6000. BTW, anyone with a LG VX6000, please don't post a reply message to what I said, and say that the LG VX6000 will win! That is you opinion, and this message I posted is my opinion. Just my two cents. Same Here, i work for ATT as well so a free V600 will be very nice, plus i also use verizon due to poor GSM coverage near my house..I plan on checking out the V810 ........................As far as the V600 being modeled after the V60, that worries me considering all the problems with The TDMA version, my Cdma v60i seems pretty solid though
I like the report that the V810 is analog capable. My V60i still roams to analog occasionally when I am in remote areas. I wanted to get the LG VX6000, but couldn't justify buying a phone that would'nt work every where my V60i will work. I also like the small size. I think that this will probably be my next phone. The look of the phone is fine with me. I hope it has decent battery life.
It's got good batt. life, but, it is sorta ugly..I guess so is the Nokia 3589i..*eh* Otherwise, I think all the features are great!
The "M" on the front of the camera doesn't change colors... as I learned two weeks ago, the "M" is used as a flash for the camera.
I don't know if this is the same link that was posted earlier, but I pulled this link off a similar forum over at HOFO, and the link worked for me. The portion of the clip to watch is the very end, and the "M" logo is indeed changing color. However, this is clearly a Korean ad, and there are several permutations of the phone over there. It's possible there's a version that substitutes the flash for a color alert. Although, frankly, I still like the one on the v600 better. =)
v810 one thing i also noticed is that the v810 has an "ok" button in the middle of the 4-directional pad, while the v600 you have to use the soft keys. i did some research i cant find any info on whether the v810 uses metal or plastic, but from the looks of it, it looks like plastic to me anyways, i cant wait for both of these phones to come out
v7xx is actually the T7xx... the v series that the v810 was originaed from is from korea, the v600 is from v60(you are right). dont get me wrong, i myself like the v600 better, but the v810 is right up there for me too... im just happy(and lucky i guess) to be able to have the best of both worlds. the only thing i am scared about getting the v810, is that it is not a EV-DO or EV-DV phone, which verizon will be rolling out by the end of 2004. But you can never win with technology, so i guess getting a years worth outta a phone is good. thank god qualcomm designed there chips to be backwards compatible... and about mcnabb.. im a niners fan.. but i love mcnabb(he won me my fantasy football league last year..LOL.. i know corey(havent seen him a while) and give him a hard time for the eagles' slow start this year)
I wouldn't expect to see the v810 out by christmas, realistically. It may launch anywhere from December to February, or later. I would hate to see them launch the phone early just to compete with other camera phones. That's what they did with the T720 (launched it early to compete with Sprint's color phones) and look what happened. Plus, I still think the phone is god awefull ugly, and I'll be waiting for something better.
