I've had my Chocolate since it came out, and until now it's been fine. However, I realized in the last few days the vibrate function has stopped working, the space key in texting doesnt always respond, and sometimes my alarm will go off with no sound. I pay the 5 a month for the insurance, which I hear is crap...anyway, what are my options as far as walking into a Verizon store (and calling their customer service number) and either getting a new chocolate to replace mine, or having them allow me to buy some new phone at the 2yr contract price?

If you have a plan higher than 75.00 for longer than a year I believe you can get the two year price....

You can get a new phone every year with annual upgrade.**
Sign up for a two-year agreement on a calling plan of at least $49.99 and you can purchase a new phone at its promotional price through My Account every year with a two-year renewal (upgrade fee applies).

If your phone is less than a year old, you can take it into a Verizon service center and they will swap it out with a FRU at no added cost to you.

What type of insurance do you have with Verizon? There are three types of coverage:

    1) Total Equipment Coverage: (This is the extended warranty program as well as Wireless Phone Protection). If you have this type of insurance you can bring your phone into a Verizon service center, and after they look it over, will swap it out with a FRU at no added cost to you.

    2) Wireless phone protection: If your handset is more than a year old, and you don't have total equipment coverage you can Visit www.phoneclaim.com to file a claim and initiate the claims process. To file a claim by phone, call Asurion's customer care dept. at 1-888-881-2622. ($50.00 deductible applies).

    3) Extended Warranty Program: This type of coverage is only $1.99/month, and since you are paying $5.00/month, I'm going to assume here that you either have #1, or #2 type of insurance.

***The best thing to do would be for you to take your handset into a Verizon service center and have a trained technician look at it for you. If they are unable to resolve or fix your handset issue, they will advise you on what options are available to you.

    Good luck. :)

I have a similiar question. I have had my KRZR replaced two times. Now it has another problem(phone screen upside down) and i wanted to know since it would be the third time if i could get a phone at the same value??? maybe??

    Hi motokrzr14,

I don't know if Verizon still has their "3 strikes" policy or not, that if you have a problem with your handset 3 times, you would be eligible for an early upgrade at a steep discount to a new model. Call Verizon's CS dept. and ask. I know I had a handset replaced before due to this policy, and I never knew about it till the CS Rep. explained it to me. I did have to renew my contract for another year to receive the phone at the discounted price.

If this isn't available, and you have to swap the same phone out after the third time, it can be replaced with a different model phone (FRU) of equal value, with comparable features.

Hi there, a much needed software upgrade just came out for the KRZR couple of weeks back. I believe this fixes a page and a half long list of problems that people were having with it. From what I understand they are not swapping out the KRZR's any more but upgrading the software when you take it back to a VZW store.

    Hope this helps :).

Thanks for the help everyone. The last time i had my KRZR replaced was 2 weeks ago because of a speaker problem. They tried a software upgrade, and it didn't help and then they just replaced the phone. I am going to call Verizon to see what I can do. Again thanks everyone!
