To make one song into a ringtone, keep this info in mind. The ringtone should not play for more than 30 seconds MAX, because at about 25-30 seconds of ringing, your phone will go over to your voicemail.

Next, is the name of the files should not exceed 37 characters, including the extension. Note that some people's phones only worked with 20 characters MAX as the name and extension. Do Not Know why. Tyr it with 37 and if it does not work, try it with 20.

Also, even though the V3m is 'supposed' to use .mp3's as ringtones, very few are having any success at this. Some have 'renamed their .mp3 to .mid and it then worked as a ringtone.

Keep in mind though, that .mp3 and .mid are two 'completely' different formats and the sound quality when you rename them, may not being pleasing to you. Try it and you make the choice.

Next is the best place to put your songs is on a transFlash SD card. The V3m will work with a card up to 1gig. Your can store your songs, pics, movies, etc... on the card. This will free up the storage on your phone for other stuff.

Note again, that if you put a ringtone on the SD card, the phone will not recognize it and it will not play it. So keep that in mind.

I hope all this helps and not toooo confusing. Do not hesitate to ask a question, or two, or three, or  if you need to. Better to be safe than sorry.

Okay this might sound dumb on my part but oh well. When you say the file should not contain more then 37 characters including extensions what does that mean? Also how would i go about chaning the format of the song from .mp3 to .mid? I have never done this before so i am a little slow at this well okay alot :D . I will be the first to admit that i am challenged in this department ;)
    Well thanks for the help!

There is never a dumb question. I prefer to be safe than sorry.

DO NOT count the quotes in any of the following examples. They are used just for clarification.

37 characters plus extension. Example: "This_is_my_song.mp3"
The total characters is 19. You count every characer, the _'s and the .mp3

.mp3 is the 4 character extension.

Ok to change the format of the song from ".mp3" to ".mid"; most people just change/rename the extension from ".mp3" to ".mid" - remember not to include the quotes. You have to do this from your computer, then upload the ringtones to your phone.

    Hope that helps.

If you still have questions, do not hesitate to ask.

Ok, go into your folder where all your music is, so I guess your "My Music" folder? ;) Once you get into the folder where all your music is, go into the Tools menu at the top of the page. Then into Folder Options. Once that box opens, click on the View tab at the top. In the Advanced settings box, if you count down 12 lines, you should see a line that says "Hide extensions for known file types". It should be unchecked, and if it is, then checkmark it, hit apply on the bottom, and close the box. All your song names should now show ".mp3" at the end of the song name. And now you can proceed with the steps richard was talking about

Ok, to reduce the size of the ringtone, you will have to get some software that will allow you to cut/chop out parts of the ringtone you do not want so it can be reduced in size.

If you have a Motorola phone, you can get Motorola Phone Tools real cheap off the internet. It comes with cable. It will allow you to slice and dice your ringtones to the proper size.

There is also, some free software off of the internet. You can do a search on and use it.

This site here give you more insite on how/what you can do to you phone, if it is a RAZR V3c/V3m.
