How do I shut off the notification tone for iMessage on my iPad? It is pretty loud and rather annoying. I see options to shut off the sound in all other messaging in notifications except iMessage.

    Please helps.

    Thanks much. :)

I figured I would reply here rather than the group chat. I can type more :)

So if understood you correctly last night (and if you understood me), when you select the settings menu on the iPad there is no 'sounds' menu?

Either Settings > Sounds or Settings > General > Sounds?

    Yep anthromatt has it.

Settings- general -sounds -text tone- none.

That will do only text. Nothing else. As in the iPhone.

Thank you Mr. Meanie and viewfly. Yes settings > General > Text tone > None, did it. :)

The sent "swoosh" noise is still there, is it possible to turn that off?

    Thanks much. :)

Yea same place under sent sound. But I just keep these both on and use the mute switch when texting a lot

Not sure you can turn off the swoosh. But the mute switch does! Easier

viewfly, turning off the sent sound doesn't mute the iMessage sent "swoosh" . :(

Same on the iPhone. It turns it off for sent email, but not sent MMS/SMS/iMessages

Yes, thanks but the mute turns off all notifications including Email which defeats the purpose of push email for me. :)

Does the iPad not have a vibrate feature? My phone is on mute 95% of the time, but it vibrates for email and phone calls.

I don't believe an iPad or any other tablet has a vibrate function. ;)

So it's all or nothing, eh? Tablets just went from dumb to dumber for me!

    Just kidding. :p

I don't use my spouse's iPad much. No vibrate. But Charlyee with the mute switch on you will still get the top screen email notifications. Isn't that good enough? I mainly turn mute on whilst in an a message conversation. Like you the back and forth sounds are a bit much.

But I don't mind the whatsapp sound. Wish I could find that to use. ;)

Of course it is :), however my conversations go in spurts and i would have to remember to un mute it every time. It is only with one person, The rest of my friends, iOS included all use GroupMe, so at this time without the incoming notification I can tolerate the swoosh.

Btw, I have FB_Chat as my notification for GroupMe on my Atrix, it is a discreet and mild tone and not annoying, maybe you could give that a try ?

Thanks for all your help viewfly, and you too Matt (on and off the board). ;)
