I have owned a Moto V300 for about 3 years now. I need a new phone as the V300 is dying. I'm looking at the Moto V360 my upgrade price with a 2 year extention is $149.99 with a $50.00 rebate bringing the final cost to $99.00, or $279.99 with no extention.
My question is this: I can go to the Motorola site and buy it for $179.99 with free shipping. This doesn't involve any contract upgrade and shipping is free. I do realize TM is not in buisness to sell just phone but as a loyal customer for over 3 years, why the price difference? My bill with TM averages $200 per month. I have a family plan with 5 lines and 2000 minutes. My contract is up in Sept. Thanks for your help.

I don't see any reason why you should not buy it directly from Motorola. TM's upgrade prices change all the time, but I don't know how they decide what to charge.

This company also has the v360 for 145.00 unbranded and unlocked, although it's temporarily out of stock right now.
    http://plemix.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=15051&Category_Code=MOT

They also have deals and bargains on lots of other gsm phones that are unbranded and unlocked that would work with T-mobile.
and the other option also is that you could go to Walmart/ or Target, etc (example) and purchase a t-mobile to go kit that comes with a phone
you can get a Nokia flip for around 99.00,etc. and then sell off the activation sim/time on ebay to make a little money back.etc.
here's a link to some of those phones. This is just a link to show the phones...although I know you can pick up the 2 nokias and a samsung at target/walmart. I've seen them there lots of times.

Good luck! I hope that helps or at leasts gives you more options.

I wouldn't get that V360, as it is the Euro/Asia version. I have heard you can seem edit the phone to have 850, but I don't know if it's true. With all the 850 roaming T-Mobile has now I wouldn't get a phone with just 1900 any more. The version with 850 is blueish-grey BTW. :)

Your right budney...I'm sorry I didn't catch that. I just assumed it had the 850 band like mine from T-mobile. My mistake!

I know with some Moto phones, you can seem edit and enable the 850MHz band, because it was already included in the hardware (just disabled). I am not sure if the 850MHz band was already included in the V360, but just disabled.

The only way to confirm it is to enable 850 with a hex edit, then go into engineering mode (If enabled) and see if you are actually seeing towers using an 850 channel, but being on TMO, you may not have any 850 towers in your area that you are allowed to roam on. If your area hasn't undergone network integration with Cingular then you may see either Cingular listed twice in your network list, or AT&T Wireless, depending on your phone's age. If you see 2 Cingular networks then you probably really do have 850 enabled.

My phone does have the 850 band and it is capable., but the question is .....
I don't think it's utilized on the TMo2Go plans. The map of t-mobile shows service on the coast...I don't think I have service there?? hhmmm... I'll have to look again.
But the phone itself does have the 850 band..:)

Maybe on the coast they are allowing contract customers to roam on Cingular, but the prepaid folks gotta stay on the TMO network? It wouldn't suprise me.

Me either.... I haven't been to the coast but once..and I truly wasn't paying attention to my cell phone! you didn't hear that!:browani:

We are going again soon, and I'll have to check it out again. But I think your right. I'm not sure they are allowing us to roam on Cingular yet. But that's okay. I still think my plan is cheap considering I have 90.00 on my account and don't have to add any more time until next May. unless I use it up..and when May comes around and I have 40 or 50 bucks on there, all I have to do is add 10.00 and it'll renew for another year. I don't like the companys that make you add time every 60 days etc. My Mom had verizon older prepaid...every 60 days. She didn't use it that fast. So pretty soon she had 100 bucks on a phone she didn't use just to maintain it... That's nuts!:loony:

My Mom has a similar deal with her TracFone. I told her she should just give me the $10/mo it would cost to add her to my plan, and she'd get a great phone that worked and enjoy M2M minutes with the rest of the family. Instead she keeps buying TracFones. Her latest one she just bought a few months ago is a Motorola V60. I retired my V60 2 years ago... That's the deal with TracFone though, they have the latest and greatest phones of 3 years ago..

No kidding about being the latest and greatest of the past. You got it!:lmao: I know that if I ever find myself going way overboard..I'll do the same thing. I'll just give my folks 10 bucks and be added...but I don't talk that much on the cell. Usually I wait till I get home, but it's nice to have that feeling that if I break down or whatever I'm covered or that if it's really important I can call and be called.

Yeah, but that was the thing with my Mom, I know she would never use any plan minutes because all of her calls would either be M2M or N&W. She would also be able to get a nice phone free. I've seen the Moto V557 as a free phone, much better than a CDMA V60 that doesn't work in most of the areas around her house.

If I recall correctly, prepaid accounts does not have the same roaming privileges as post-paid (contract) customers.

in any account or any provider i would always recommend a nokia....the interface may not always be the greatest....but they always get the better reception....they have a faster response time.......the samsungs are prolli the worst for reception.....t-mobile's latest addition....the nokia 6103 is very good....ive had it for a week now and i love it. I even think that nokia batteries lst longer......as in they can hold a charge for a longer period of time and they dont deteriorate

I'm not sure what is meant by the V360 is the Euro/Asia version? Looking at this site it looks like the phone is enabled for the 850 freq. http://www.mobilecityonline.com/wireless/store/productdetail.asp?productid=653&view=1

    Thanks for your replies Greg

The Euro/Asia verison would have 900/1800/1900 MHz. That MobileCity link is very confusing as they list all three types of phones. It can only be one World(Quad-band), Euro/Asia (Tri-band), or US (Tri-band)???
