I'm on a PC with Windows XP home edition, i have a verizon razr. I would like to use BitPim to access the phone, I used it on my old phone and it worked well. I searched the forum but found no topics to solve this particular problem. i downloaded the DriverTool file from the sticky. Reboot, plug in phone, Found new Hardware pops up to install software for Motorola Communication Interface. Click to install automatically, and the wizard says it cannot find the necessary software. Every time I plug in the phone now, I get this wizard and it can never find the software. WTF is going on?
Drivertool doesn't work to well on the newer Razr's. Here's a link to get you moved in the right direction. You need to install the newest Moto driver pack release. After that you should be good to go for using BitPim. All the info and or links to the newest driver are right on the page. Peace RAZR, V3C, V3M, E815 Motorola/LG Mobile Phone Help Pages by Mark Venture - 1 USBDriver Edit: Heck just noticed from the link on that page Moto just released a new set this month, guess I'll grab them myself now also.
thanks for the info, but the site says you have to do seem edits to download files. jeezus keeerist. i dont really care that much to F with that.
Version 2.6 and above should work fine. I've been using 2.9 and works great MOTODEV register for free and get the latest pack from Motorola
If you would rather not do the seem edit then you are going to be hosed on doing anything with your comp and the phone. Reason being is VZW turned off the USB transfer in the device. So the only way to use a USB cable with programs is to do the one seem edit. It's really not a big deal to be honest with ya. Once you have the drivers installed and do the one seem you're good to go. As for the actual drivers tho, if you do want them and get motivated to work on this here is a link to the newest ones Moto release earlier this month. If you use this link you won't have to register with Moto, I downloaded them and put them here for people to get at so they don't have to register. http://www.hacktherazr.com/originals/Handset_USB_Drivers_x32_v3.2.0.msi
