Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8820/4.2.2 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102) Saw the sign in a mall today. They went from $99 to $149 back to $99. I wonder if they just use sprint networks or do they roam on others also? Anyone have them? How's the service? I'm just curious.
sprint trying to keep a competitive edge? i dunno, just a thought. anyhow i found it interesting a second ago that the coverage viewer on Helio.com and Sprint.com look almost the same..but do have slight differences.
Well one could just be an out of date version or something. I remember when Virgin Mobile used to have Sprint's coverage maps that were about a year older than what Sprint had on their own site.
Helio has to do something to compete with the major carriers. Weren't they the first with an "Unlimited" plan for $99 in the first place?
yea...but they are an MVNO, so it depends how you look at it. they were the first nationwide with unlimited everything. but one could argue that Cricket or Metro were the first unlimited's also.
Helio's claim to fame was that they were the first to offer true myspace mobile. Not sure if the other carrier's have it now as well or if Helio is the only one.
yea i said that i think..just different wording haha.. yea i know i had to go there though honestly if we wanto get REALLY technical, wouldnt ATT Wireless have been the first one???
Actually, I think you're right. I believe the old AT&T Wireless was the first with an "Unlimited" plan of some kind.
Helio doesnt use Sprint exclusively.....they use Verizon and Alltel as well......otherwise they wouldnt have taken off at all.....
So how do they work that? Is it by region or by phone? Obviously they would have to have seperate phones (or at least different firmware) for each carrier they utilize.
He means for roaming service. They still use Sprint only as their "home network" and for EVDO. But they can 1x voice and data roam on Verizon and Alltel for free. They only sell service where sprint is sold/available.
