Has anyone been sick recently with a cold and/or the flu?

I am still recovering from a cold.

    I hate being sick.[IMG]

I hate that people don't cover their mouths when they sneeze and I am disgusted that people don't wash their hands after they go to the restroom.[IMG]

So, post if you are sick or just go over from being sick.

I am curious as to how many people on WA have been sick recently.

    Thanks.

I got a cold on Halloween. I'm still coughing from it. There's been a freaking plague out here in Cali.

I too am disgusted when people don't wash their hands after using the restroom.

The worst thing I ever saw at work was when another guy walked away from a urinal, dried his hands, and walked out of the restroom. Notice he did not wash his hands.

    That is pretty gross, Cenobyte.

It seems like everyone is getting sick recently.

I hate it when I get sick around holidays.

    It's a bummer.

    Oh well.

Gross indeed. It's things like that that make so many people sick in the first place.

What gets me is the people who carefully wash their hands but then grab the same door handle that the people who peed on their hands have grabbed. Hello? USE A PAPER TOWEL, NUMBN!TS...

Funny story though... where I work we have these toilets in the men's bathroom that have really, really powerful flushes... I mean, these are Lesbian Harley-Riding Toilets of Death here, these are not your meek little toilets that will take what you give them and beg for more. These are MEAN toilets. You flush the toilet and if you're not instantly a whole metre away you will get water on you.

So one day we get this pompous consultant in from PWC or Deloitte or one of the big firms. He's maybe 25 years old, good-looking, dressed to the nines in Roberto Cavalli and Prada shoes. He goes into the bathroom and nobody thinks to warn him about the Lesbian Harley-Riding Toilets of Death.

He makes an especially generous deposit into the First Bank of Porcelain and then flushes. There's this SHRIEK that echoes across the whole floor and he comes tearing out of the bathroom covered in brown spots, like a trendy Holstein on uppers, and rushes out the front door, never to be seen again.

    We laughed ourselves SICK.

Not here, I got the flu mist and my parents got the flu shots, we're safe I think [IMG] My sisters and their families up in Willits and Laytonville got it though, needless to say, they will be getting vaccinated next year [IMG] It's a bad one this year, if you are between 5-49, get the new flu mist, they just spray it in your nose, no needles!! Needles are so medieval lol It is even better than the shot because it not only produces antibodies, but it gets into your upper respitory system, where most flus enter the body. It's a live virus, unlike the shot which is a dead one, hence the 5-49 age limit. Check it out

Oh, there's a 25 dollar rebate on it too, so it comes out the same price as the flu shot, and no needles! Did I mention there's no needles involved? lol I HATE needles with a passion, they should have gone out with blood letting and mercury treatments! FluMist

I was sick with a severe cold/mild flu 10 days ago. I've recovered but I still find that I have to blow my nose often and the real annoying thing is that you find that blocked sinuses cause your ears to be partially closed up for a while longer. It seems like this flu season is going to be a really bad one. I've noticed a lot of friends get sick already now whereas normally this happens in January or February.

My basic remedy was lots of sleep, taking some cold medicine and drinking warm tea with honey. There's no lack of good, healing tea here in London considering how addicted the British are to their tea like we Americans are coffee addicts [IMG].

Hope everyone gets better. Being sick really sucks.

Yeah it does, I take it you didn't get the flu shot or mist this year? Shame, shame [IMG]

Lol I hate going to the doctor's and I especially hate getting shots lol. But I have to get my basic immunizations renewed in 2 years so hopefully by then we'll have less shots administered via needles/syringes. I normally don't get sick with the flu so I cope without a shot during the flu season.

Yep, I'm a needle hater too! lol Whenever I get a shot, I turn pale, get sick, and almost pass out, it's embarrasing! You can get the Flu Mist now, no needles, just a spray in each nostril, quick and painless, check the site out, I'm not sure if it's in the UK, but I would bet it is.

I never get a flu shot. I never get the flu...once in the past 10 years I think. Now I have jinxed myself and I will get it of course. Still, the current vaccine does nothing to protect against the bad strain going around...so oops they vaccine people guessed wrong this year.

Get it, trust me, it's worth it! Or do like I did and get the FluMist, no needles! And while the strain this year is a little different than the one in the vaccine, it does provide some cross vacination against the current strain, 36,000 people die from it each year, it's more deadly that I thought at first.

    Flu Info

"WASHINGTON, Sept. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Leading medical and public health officials today called for renewed vigilance against an old killer -- influenza -- which continues to kill an average of approximately 36,000 Americans and results in the hospitalization of more than 114,000 Americans per year. At a press conference held in the nation's capital by the National Foundation for Infectious Diseases (NFID) and National Coalition for Adult Immunization (NCAI), Dr. Julie Gerberding, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and other experts underscored the severity of influenza and urged Americans to get immunized"

"The influenza pandemic of 1918-1919 killed more people than the Great War, known today as World War I (WWI), at somewhere between 20 and 40 million people. It has been cited as the most devastating epidemic in recorded world history. More people died of influenza in a single year than in four-years of the Black Death Bubonic Plague from 1347 to 1351. Known as "Spanish Flu" or "La Grippe" the influenza of 1918-1919 was a global disaster. "

That's OK, my dad (a doctor) says its worthless against the most virulent strain and the "hype" is mostly a bunch of sensationalism by the CDC and media. He works in a hospital everyday and isn't even getting it. The talk of cross-vaccination is mostly BS. [IMG]

Anyway, I have not had the flu in 10 or 11 years and have not had the shot in 8 years...that means the last itme I got the flu I had the shot that year. I'll save my money for a movie or something. [IMG]

I should clairfy my last post...my dad does not think the flu is over-hyped...rather he thinks the vaccine is.

That's fine...if it was free and would come to me I'd get it. But I just value the money and time (driving, waiting room, etc) it takes to get the shot more than the shot itself! [IMG] I have no problem with needles...had to get allergy shots for about 9 years...that cured me of any fears I might have had.
