Handspring Treo VoiceMail Icon

    I have a Handspring Treo 270 with Voicestream service. When I get a voicemail message, I get an SMS message notifying me but no voicemail icon. Handspring says that is the function of the cellular service and Voicestream says that Treo does not support the Icon?

    Who is lying?

    The Treo uses the CPHS Voicemail Indicator (6F11) and the Mailbox number (6F17) from the SIM card to retrieve voicemail status from the service provider's voicemail number.

    From what I understand, Voicestream is not correctly sending the account information to the SIM. YOU MUST CONTACT Voicestream and have them send your account setup to your SIM. You will get a message (SMS) saying that your SIM has been activated when this is complete. You can then verify this by selecting SIM Services application on your Treo and your account number (phone number) and some other VS information will be displayed.
