I have a VX-4500 that is basically dead. When powering up, all I get is the red status light (steady on) no screen, no calling, no activity what so ever. I have opened the phone. There are no obvious circuit malfunctions or burn marks. Battery is good, all connections are good. All I want to do is transfer the phone book. I have all the necessary software and hardware, just need to get the phone to send ONE! data stream. Any ideas?

You might want to try Bitpin for it.

I've tried BitPim and it cannot recognize the port. However my other phone links up perfect. So the bad phone is not sending any data. We took the phone in and they would not give us a new one. They tried to get us to use the insurance which didn't have the same phone in stock. I need the phone data off this phone. I can't just swap it. Verizon even tried to pull the info off and they couldn't read anything. All I need to do is get the board to send out the data.

Don't give up, try a diffferent store, the 4500 is not a year old yet so it should be covered by warranty, make sure you mention that......
