Hi, I am on academic exchange programme from Hong Kong to University of Wisconsin Madison. I am just wondering whether Cingular is using GSM 850 or 1900 in Madison. My phone is a triband 900-1800-1900 Nokia 3230 and I am considering bring my own phone there. If only GSM850 is provided then I will be in trouble.... :O Thanks!
It looks like at&t (Cingular) holds liscences for 850 and 1900 for that area. For complete coverage I would recommend a quadband phone with 850 and 1900, but it looks like a 1900 only phone would work. -Jay
Thanks for the info, however someone said in Sep 07 that Madison only provide service on GSM850? I just want to make sure GSM 1900 is OK there. Check the last post on The Daily Page | Madison, Wisconsin :: View topic - Best Blackberry service in Madison?
It is entirely possible that even though they hold a liscence for 1900 they may be operating on 850. Maybe someone from that area can let us know for sure what works in that area.
Einstein PCS serves Madison and other Wisconsin cities on 1900 MHz. Bring your unlocked tri-band phone. COtech
Well, they appear to have a prepaid service: Airadigm Communications / Einstein Wireless > National-Prepay. You should be able to ask them at Airadigm Communications / Einstein Wireless > Contact Us for details.
