Good day all. My question is, after the 17 of Oct., Alltell will be no more. The question that i can not seem to get a consistant answer on. Since VZW has only nationwide plans, and will be honering Alltel plans. Will VZW give Greater Freedom customers nationwide coverage? And if not, will Greater Freedom customers still have the option to buy the Roaming minute bundles.
I'm sure they won't just give you national coverage. They'll devise some offer to get you to move to a more expensive Verizon plan.
Not necessarily. Greater Freedom plans are about the same prices as other comparable Verizon plans, the only difference is the minute bucket amounts and My Circle. Unfortunately I can't say whether roaming minute bundles will make the transition. But I don't see why they wouldn't just simplify it and give nationwide coverage without any extra charges. Greater Freedom is a local plan, of which Verizon does not offer localized plans. With Verizon, though, who knows...
No, and No. If you want to increase your calling area you will have to switch to a NF plan, or if you have the capability and desire, upgrade to a VZW plan and phone. One note on VZW Nationwide plans - although they do guarantee you will neve get a roaming charge, if you do enter and area where you would, the phone won't work. I've experienced this. My Alltel phone did work there although roaming charges applied, but the VZW phone just plain stated NO SERVICE even though I could see signal strength. It was frustrating as I needed to call somebody to tell them I was in town and I couldn't.
