At RR's suggestion I downloaded the NetCounter app. I also checked My Verizon this morning to see how much I used last night. It was barely 800KB's. Via NetCounter, I used nearly 30MB's via WiFi. So I could tell it was going to get too complicated to monitor my usage while out of range of the WiFi. Now I don't have to worry about it and I can always toggle between Verizon and WiFi as needed.
Found out that in a week I went through 129mb, 150mb would definitely be no good for me. That's like surfing freely on my phone once a week. 500mb would have been a better idea IMO.
Glad I could help, Mike. In case anyone else is wondering about the promotional plan, here are the details: https://email.vzwshop.com/servlet/website/ResponseForm?OSPEUT_9_9_z_UU_0Hsr_.2eHmH_wkhthE As mentioned over on HoFo (where I first saw this offer), you have to receive the offer via email (see below) in order to qualify for the deal. Also, this is a call in deal, and is handled by the retention department (from what I have read). The store CSRs and Verizon CSRs cannot offer this plan, and may or may not know the details about the plan. I have also read that people were saying they received the email when in fact they didn't. In my opinion, this is not right. I called them a week and a half ago, and simply asked them if our family plan qualifies for this amazing deal (we never received the email offer), instead of pretending we received the email offer. The rep went to check and came back 2 minutes later and said that we qualified. On a side note, I have heard that this may in fact be a trial to see if this plan goes over well (which it sounds like it is doing) before they offer this as a regular plan.
In my case, being with the company nearly 17 years got me on the plan. It also depends on the rep you get. Some are more strict about it than others, apparently.
That will also work. That is another good point about the reps. I may have just been lucky when I called and got my family on this plan. We have only been with Verizon for five years now.
I believe in your case it's because of the amount of lines and types of phones you have. That alone probably more than qualified it for you, even if the decision was up to the rep you spoke to. The really best part of all of this is I get a 20% discount on top of the $20 discount that comes with this plan. Talk about an awesome deal! :thumb: Very thankful you told me about it Erik!
That may be true. It was either that or I just got lucky with the rep. I figured it was worth a shot to call in about the deal. That is definitely a killer deal that you got, Mike. Again, I am glad that I could help.
OK, I've just started a stickied thread in the Android forum for questions and answers to basics and whatever someone wants and needs information about Android. I thought it would be better to centralize it in one place. I definitely have questions, so I'll ask them there. Here is the thread link: http://forums.wirelessadvisor.com/a...ial-android-questions-and-answers-thread.html
You are using an email plan, the same thing I had while I was on VZW using a Samsung Omnia. Anybody can have that plan; it does include unlimited data and text. Nothing special about it.
Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 2.2; en-us; DROIDX Build/VZW) AppleWebKit/533.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile Safari/533.1 480X854 motorola DROIDX) I don't think that is the case. The family plan that I am on (see the link that I posted earlier) is definitely not the email plan. And the plan is in fact special since the line(s) are discounted by $20. Also not everyone qualifies for the plan, so in my opinion that definitely makes it special. Just because this plan may mimic an old plan, doesn't mean it is in fact the same plan.
For $69.99? This is the cheapest I've ever seen for what's included. Whatever deals they've had in the past is irrelevant. With the way Verizon prices their plans NOW, this is a great deal, considering without this special plan, it would have been $89.99. Money saved is money saved.
So - I've only been back with VZW for 9 mo - after leaving them for 4 years and being with them 5 years before that. And I get 17-20% work discount - does that apply?
Me likee this phone lots! :browani: Getting the hang of things, and still in the learning curve. So far, so good. Will post a review soon...
