So I got a new LG 8300. I would like to know if there is any way to get music (MP3 from my computer) into my phone without having to pay for Verizons Music software package($50).

I also would like to know if I can load ringers into my phone without using the Web?

    What about games?

I say this because I have the web turned off on my phones as I don't want to get hit with $1 per ringer or game or whatever.

In other words, what can I get for free and how?

buy a memory card and just stick your mp3's on there. However, I do believe you have to unlock MP3 functionality in the menu system first. Hit menu then 0, then enter 000000 as the unlock code and scroll down to mp3 function and enable it. Either that or just stick wma's on your memory card. I think you're out of luck when it comes to ringers, though.

This did not work for me. (Well, I got into the secret menu using all those zeros, which was pretty cool, but the music settings were unchangeable.) However, I HAVE figured out how to get music on there.

Get a microSD card. Put it in your phone. Try to see what is on the card through the phone. After pulling the SD card back out, I discovered that the phone had put several directories on there (my_flix, my_pix, my_music, etc.). I was THEN able to put mp3s in the "my_music" directory and the phone recognized them. Woo hoo! :)

You don't have to unlock any function anymore. With the version 3 they took out the old mp3 player and now everyone has to use the V-cast set-up...however, if you save mp3's to a formatted microSD, you can play them on the phone...

I have a microSD in my phone as we speak.

As far as a ringtone is concerned, download Audacity an make up to a 20-30 sec clip of the song you want to be your ringtone. Then email the tone to your phone by typing yourphonenumber@vzwpix.com...for 25¢ you can the save it to your phone as a ringtone....

I do it all the time.
