Anyone get an invite?.... kinda reminds me of when gmail was an invite only beta.... anyone got an invite to throw my way? www.google.com/voice
I am waiting for one myself. I left my email address asking to be notified when it becomes available. No word yet......
I have an old grand central number but it is tied to a no longer active email account and I have contacted Google a number of time trying to get them to update my login information and they have yet to respond to any of my inquiries.
They're still sending invites to the GrandCentral waiting list that has been closed for over 2 years. If you put in a request on Google Voice, then expect to wait quite a while for an invite. I have a GV on one of my gmail accounts, but its my secondary account and its also an out of area number. The only thing I will really use it for is using the number whenever I have to fill out a form or a survey, and for making long distance calls from work.
Well got my GV invite! I ended up opting to use an area code that's not local to me (but i use my cell mostly anyways so it doesn't really matter to much, and my current address doesn't match my cell market any longer either). the voice quality is pretty good so far. I'll give you more of my impressions after i've used it for a little bit longer.
Just got my invite today. Now I need to decide which area code I'd like my number to be in...:browani:
I've had an account for a while, but I want a local vanity number. I keep checking but the number I want is not available in any of the local prefixes. Right now, my number is an out of state area code... but I give it out to companies and such that I don't really want to hear from anyways.
Yes, I wish I could call the people that keep leaving voicemail on my cellphone back and give them my "new" number.
GV didn't have numbers in two of the area codes I wanted, but nonetheless, I'm happy with the number I got. It's easy to remember and similar to the phone number I had when I was a kid. Back to reppin' the 213 again since I gave up T-Mobile four months ago.
Got my invite last night, an area code 609 (NJ) number, and also renewed my MagicJack with a 702 (NV) number (though I don't use the device - just the number). Both numbers forward to my cell phone, (area code 864), I'm so happy, and I now have 4 numbers in 3 area codes. :highclap: Also, my Google Voice number was added to My Circle, so goodbye totally to anytime minutes usage!
omg! thats genius!!! for those BB and android users: http://googlemobile.blogspot.com/2009/07/google-voice-for-android-and-blackberry.html now if only google would make an app for WM!
There is a mobile site (voice. It will let you connect a call, send an SMS, or check messages fairly quickly. Obviously, not integrated and not as spiffy as an app, but it works. If it doesn't redirect you automatically from voice.google.com, then www.google.com/voice/m should work.
You can also directly dial your google voice number, enter your pin and dial directly from gv... you can also us goog411 to place that call... I've ben using it for a week or so, so far only a couple of calls had issues with call clarity, but that could have been the "ACR" software on my phone.
I think most ppl got their invites already, but I have 2 that i can fwd someone in the event they didnt get one.... this is for a google account that DOES NOT have google voice already (google wont let you have 2 gv numbers on one account, i already tried ) p.s. - Thanks spleck and WirelessBeachBum, but i already knew that.
Well, I can't on behalf of AT&T customers, but I I'm using a jailbreaked/unlocked 3G 16GB iphone 3.0.0 on TMobile and it works flawlessly. I got the app from Cydia hosted by Modmyi.com. This was like 1 day after the AT&T blockage that the owner decided to give out GV mobile for free (more about that on his site).
I have 3 google voice invites that I am willing to give away. If you are interested send me a PM. Thank you. First come first served basis.
For those who get invited to Google Voice, they've added some new features, including one that doesn't require getting an actual GV number. It's more of an advanced voicemail routing set-up. Get Google Voice, Keep Your Mobile Number - Business Center - PC World
I have had a GV invite for some months now (sorry to all who still wait). Today, I decided to assign a Tracfone number to it. My Tracfone tends to be unwelcome - I can't port the number. I still keep the account open, I figured I'd need the Trac "some day". It has several hundred minutes remaining, it has a 'double minutes for life' card assigned to it, too. Right now, it sits on a 30 day 'auto renew' plan, 5.95 per month. So far, this phone is the low cost champ in the house. When I got the GV invite, I was not immediately able to DECIDE which number I wanted - there were a dozen numbers offered to me (back then) which were local calls! I was not sure, though, what to use it for so I held off assigning a number. The GV invite sat unused until tonight. When I check the phone number options tonight, there were no numbers available in this whole state, so I figured I'd toss the Tracfone number at it as a US Cellular number (this worked). Hoping that decision was a good idea, but I can always drop a different number into GV at a later time (such as the day when I eventually get tired of carrying the Tracfone account). Not sure what to do with GV right now: I haven't had a call on the Trac for almost 2 years, was only a temporary number for when some family members needed immediate access to me, and that need has since passed. I know, so unfair that I have a GV account and don't know what to do with it, while peeps desire one and could use it, too.
