Anyone interested in the Pixel 3 or Pixel 3XL? Since I am a phoneaholic, I am thinking about it, but it depends on what I hear about it during the announcement. If I get one I would give my LG G7 ThinQ to my wife.
I am interested but it's highly unlikely that I'll pre-order. Most likely I'll wait for reports on the battery life first and then maybe hope for a sale. I'm not sure there's anything hardware-wise that I "have to have" over my Pixel XL and the main reason for upgrading would be that Pixel XL is likely to stop receiving major Android upgrades.
Nice! I'll stick to my Pixel for a little while longer, but if I do order one it'll likely be the XL.
I thought about the XL, but it was little bit bigger than my G7 ThinQ, and I really didn't want to go any bigger. 5.5" is a good size for me. If it was any smaller I would have went with the XL.
The physical size of the XL is similar to my first-gen Pixel XL. But given the price tag I'm not sure it's a worthy upgrade Enjoy yours and if you write a few words about it that would be great!
So I get an email that my Pixel 3 has shipped, so I'm expecting to get it in 3 days from California. I did tracking and it says I'm getting tomorrow, how is that possible? I then discovered Google has a distribution center in Carol Stream, Illinois, about 7 miles from my house.
Quick Pixel 3 Review: I got the 64GB model. I have no need for anything bigger. I only install a couple of applications. Out of the box, it comes with live wall paper. Who wants a moving wallpaper? Not I, but it's easy to change. I have no idea why they went with USB ear buds. I think they should have went with Bluetooth or 3.5mm headphone jack. With a glass back, which is suppose to be better for signal, I was concerned with easy breakage, so I bought an Otterbox case. The Otterbox case was really stiff, so I was worried the active edge wouldn't work through the case, but it works fine through the case. The screen display is bright and looked good in the daylight outside. It takes sharp bright photos. I haven't figured out how to use or turn on Top Shot. The adjustable selfie camera was a good idea. No need for a special program to read QR codes with the camera. I like the time and date can be turned on to always display on the screen without waking it up. Sounds seems good with the dual front speakers. I didn't bother with the wireless charging. I used the SIM free programming for Project Fi and it was easy to set up. It's too new to give an opinion on battery life
After spending an hour taking pictures of stationary object and trying to get Top Shot to work following the instructions. I discovered Top Shot works automatically when there is motion in the picture. It doesn't work on stationary objects. - LOL!
I'm guessing it's your first phone with AR stickers then Thanks for the review! Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
Nothing as sophisticated as AR stickers. My Nokia N8 (I think you said you had a N8) had stickers you could add to pictures.
Yes, that N8 is still lying around. When I get back I'll try to fire it up and see what those stickers were all about. I have AR stickers on my Pixel XL Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
Here's a couple pictures I took with my N8 that I added the stickers to. Nokia was ahead of their time
I ordered the Pixel 3 as the event ended. Love the camera, battery life is average, size is great, smaller bezels are welcome. I prefer Google's Android experience - it's simple, smooth and never lags - except for Bluetooth. I am still amazed that Google cannot get Bluetooth to work well while Samsung, and others, can.
What bluetooth items do you use? The only item I use bluetooth for is Ford Sync in my car and it seems to connect fine.
I use several - my car (Audi), my wife's car (Jeep Wrangler), JLab ear buds, and another ear bud. Perhaps I'm not the typical user. For example I paired my phone with my wife's car and it worked fine for a few months. Over the past weekend, it would not connect to her car after several attempts. Sometimes I have to go to BT settings in my phone to force connection with my JLab ear buds, but they always connect eventually. I think switching devices causes problems. My Galaxy S9 handles it better, my Pixel 2 does not.
The only thing that fails with any sort of consistency on my Pixel XL is the Fitbit sync. The audio stack seems to function well.
