Thanks again  I ordered the mobile tools cd so as soon as i receive it i'll probably be back on here again.
Hi, sorry if I am being repetitive but I didn't see a solution to my problem posted anywhere in this forum. When I connect my V3M (Alltel) to my computer, it says that it is charging but Window's Media Player 10 keeps telling me that there isn't any device hooked up when I try to synch. I also downloaded Motorola PhoneTools 4.3.6c and had to manually find my phone (everything installed okay) but the main screen says "initializing... please wait" and won't do anything else. Did I miss a step somewhere? Thanks.
The Alltel v3m cannot sync with WMP10 or WMP11. You can turn your Alltel v3m into a mass storage device by following this thread -> http://forums.wirelessadvisor.com/razr-phones/61395-how-use-your-allte-razr-v3m.html As for MPT, it SHOULD automatically recognize your phone and connect. Try plugging your phone into the back of the comp usb port, then create a NEW profile, and see if it detects. If still no go, try running this dirver I attached with your phone plugged in.
Unreal. I had this problem solved until I ran the Windows updates and got WMP11 installed (still have XP Pro and provider is still Verizon). I'm now back to not being able to sync the phone. I followed all the instructions again and got it loaded as a Motorola USB Modem #2. When I try and sync it switches over to an MTB Device but the properties indicate the drivers are not installed and the phone comes up with an error stating: Connect Failure Please check your cable connection to the PC. I didn't change anything from the last time I got this to work, and even left the USB cable (purchased with phone) plugged into the back of the computer. I tried everything all over again and was prompted to reboot for the changes to take effect and I got the same scenario all over again. Any advice?
Thanks Cincyball, I went to the site and did the following: 1. From Control Panel uninstalled Motorola Driver Installation. 2. Checked for the common file folder - didn't have it. 3. Ran Motorola_EU_Driver_Installation_v2.6.2.msi. 4. Plugged phone into USB cable. 5. Found New Hardware program launched - errored because it could not find software. It tried to install as Motorola V3c. 6. Unplugged phone and ran DriverTool-421a.exe. 7. Plugged phone into USB cable. 8. Found New Hardware program launched - errored because it could not find software. It tried to install as Motorola V3c. 9. Turned off phone and ran mtpfix.exe. 10. Turned phone on. 11. Found New Hardware program launched - software installed . It tried to install as Motorola USB Modem. Stated Your Hardware has been installed and is now ready to use. 12. Checked Device Manager and the phone shows up as Motorola USB Modem. 13. Opened WMP11 and clicked Sync - no devices showed up. 14. Navigated to Sync Music on the phone - Connect Failure Please check your cable connection to the PC. In addition Found New Hardware MTP Device popped up. 15. Checked Device Manager and the phone shows up as a Portable MTP Device and again when checking properies it shows No Drivers Installed. What the heck did I do wrong?
Not sure - but I think somewhere in these forums I read that this only works with wmp10 - you can uninstall wmp11 and take it back to wmp10. I'm not sure if it will work or not - anyone else have any ideas?
i did what you said and downloaded what you said to and when i go to run driver tool it dont work is there anyother way to get mp3 on verizon V3m from your computher?
None of what I said here will get MP3 files on the phone. All this thread is about is getting your phone CONNECTED so it will charge via the usb port, and also to connect to WMP. And even connecting to WMP wont put MP3 files on, it will put WMA files on, to be used as music. Music cannot be set as ringtones. Tell me what youi did in which order. Which usb port you were using. etc, so we can narrow down what you did wrong.
The Motorola Software Updater (MSU) only work if it shows the divice connected. I plug in the divice but it said that my phone isn't connected. Do you know anything about this and how to fix this ? thanks
Don't know much concerning modding but did find out that if you have WIndows Media Player 11, you have to revert to Media Player 10, also make sure that you remove the Windows Media Format 11 runtime when you roll back. It will stop you from connecting. Then once you have a successful sync, you can update to 11 and maintain connectivity. Hope this helps. Krazy
I used this post 6 months ago when I got my Verizon V3m. I forget exactly what I did in what order but I think I just followed these instructions and it synched right up. But yesterday I had to uninstall some database software on my workstation and now the phone won't synch. I tried to follow the instructions at the start of this thread saying to connect the phone then install DriverTool421. But when I connect the phone I get a dialog saying it needs to install a driver. I left that dialog open and then installed the DriverTool421 but still the driver dialog won't find the file listed in the tutorial or any other file it can use for a driver. I also installed the mtpfix.exe and still nothing. Any time I connect the phone windows says I need a driver and it won't find it automatically and I can't find it manually. Any ideas? Greg
Lucenut, Not quite sure if you are attempting to sync you V3M with Media Player, or just getting it to see the Motorola USB modem? I found that once I got the USB modem to sync, I could not get the V3M to my Media Player as I had Media Player 11. But I attempted to use the mtpfix.exe off the hacktherazr but it didn't help. I went to verizon's support page, selected the V3M and at the bottom of there page they have a Sync_Music_Fix.exe and it allowed me to sync. Hope this helps, I am really rather new at this. Thanks Krazy
Yeah, I'm trying to synch with WMP 10 to transfer MP3/podcasts to the phone. I'm not sure what you mean by the USB modem. I'm not trying to use the phone as a modem or anything. Greg
Lucenut, The drivers you use or at least the one I use to connect my Razr to my PC are the ones off hacktherazr.com and it actually sees my phone as a Motorola USB Modem, when the drivers are loaded. Then I am able to connect to the phone via the sync music mode on my phone, or I can attach to it using bitpim, or Motorola Phone Tools. Try removing the current drivers you have, and running the driver tools from hacktherazr.com, this will automatically remove the old drivers and load the USB drivers onto your pc. Then connect your Razr and when it detects new hardware it should load up the USB drivers and then if you have Media Player 10 you should then be able to go to your Get Tunes & Tones and drop down to the sync music and it should sync up with your Media Player. If not go to this link http://support.vzw.com/phones/?cm_re=Global-_-Support-_-Phones & Devices and run the Sync_Music_Fix file at the bottom of the page. Hope this helps. Krazy
Any suggestions on getting a Verizon V3m connected using MPT 4.50. I had it working via Bluetooth earlier today in an older version and it quit working. Now I cannot connect to the V3m at all. I have loaded the latest version software on three different computers, one with Vista and two with XP Pro...no luck at all. I can get it to work with VZAccess Manager...works every time. Yes, the USB cable does charge the phone...but I cannot get a connection with MPT. I also tried the MPTfix.exe software patch...no luck. (not sure what that program does...it made no difference) So at this point...I cannot connect using USB or Bluetooth. Any suggestions? You have a great group on this site. Once I have the phone connected properly...I plan on doing a few seems. Thanks, Billp117 in Bothell, WA
Bill, are you sure it is version 4.50??? I checked and the newest version for MPT is 4.36c. SO Im not sure if you have something confused? Your comment on doing seem edits AFTER make me wonder. What are you trying to do with MPT? If its just contacts, and calendar sync, then fine...but if u are trying to use the multimedia function, then u will need to do the seem edits FIRST. If u used to have connectivity, have u tried creatign a new profile? And for the fix file...its actually called MTPfix.exe, not MPTfix.exe. MTP = Media Transfer Protocol.... MPT = Motorola Phone Tools... which are very separate. Let me know which version you are running, and what you used to be able to do with MPT.
Bill, I am running MPT 4.5.1c dated 3/20/2007 and I don't have a problem connecting with either, if you were able to connect prior to updating, my suggestion would be to run the driver tool from hacktherazr.com, when you connect your phone it should inform you that it found new hardware, choose not to install now on the first screen, and on the second screen choose to install driver automatically it should select the Motorola USB Modem. You should be able to see the phone then. Hope this helps...Krazy
Yes...Version 4.5.0b is correct. I purchased as a download via an eBay dealer. I solved my problem...turns out to be the phone. I plugged in my wife's phone (identical) and it worked fine. Will need to contact Motorola or Verizon. Thanks for your help. Bill
Tried posting this a few days ago in the main Motorola forum, but didn't generate any responses so I will try here... I have searched and read thru many posts here about sync problems that concern the connected V3c phone not being recognized by the PC and the suggestions for remedy, but I am experiencing a different type problem... I just recently acquired the Razr V3c with service from a regional independent service provider (not one of the big national providers). I purchased the MPT software online and installed it without difficulty. I have successfully connected the Razr via a generic USB cable and Bluetooth adapter to my PC and MPT recognized the phone with both connection methods. I can transfer media files (.jpg & mp3) to and from the phone for use as ringtones and wallpaper, using either connection method with no problems, but I can't backup or sync the contacts/phonebook or calendar. When I try to backup or sync the contacts or calendar, I get a error message dialogbox in MPT that says something to the effect, 'the phone reports that synching is not available...your phone is currently in the process of a wireless backup or data transfer...please complete or cancel this process before continuing...(paraphrased)' BTW, I also experienced the problem before I installed Bluetooth on the PC, when only the usb connection was available, so it has nothing to do with the BT installation. Can anyone shed some light on what this problem might be? TIA
I solved the problem with my V3m not syncing. I stopped into the local Verizon Wireless store and they flashed my phone to the latest version firmware (they said what I had was old...9 months old). That solved my problem and I can now sycn with Motorola Phone Tools. Now to see if I can transfer files, ringtones, and pictures...we will see.
Cool, and if you have problems transferring pictures and ringtones, see here: http://forums.wirelessadvisor.com/razr-phones/56369-motorola-phone-tools-doesnt-work-razr.html Specifically - posts 21-44
Cincy, have went through tons of threads, and tried many different things, still cant get WMP to sync with phone. attached phone in powered down state, detects as modem fine (have seem edited and connected to MPT fine). turn on phone, goto sync under get tunes menu, and computer says "found new hardware MTP device" That pop up balloon never goes away, and phone finally gives up. i click on the balloon to make it go away, and it pops back up. seems like it is recognising the mtp, and then not, then again. have read several of your threads, tried lots of stuff, no joy. Got any inputs? is this issue common? thanks Tim
Unfortunately it is very common. And furthermore, I have been able to sync with NONE of the probs listed, whcih is good /c it works for me, but bad b/c i cant really troubleshoot from experience, haha. FWIW, u can try things here: http://mark.cdmaforums.com/1-USBDriver.htm Specifically the different mtp fixes towards the bottom of the page. I hope they work, but have never needed to try them. Let us know if u discover anythign.
Okay, I'm sorry if some of the things I'm stating have already been said in previous posts. I just bought a Sprint Razr v3m, and I'm having issues connecting it via usb. I have connected the usb cord to the back usb plugs on my computer, and installed MSU and drivertools several times. The most I have gotten is, the computer will recognize the phone, and it recognizes it as a "Motorola USB Modem." It will charge the phone, but when looking in device manager, although it is charging, there is a Yellow Exclamation Point indicating that there is a driver problem. I can't figure out why it can charge but won't let me transfer files and says there is a driver problem. Any ideas?
Ok, try this for the Sprint v3m: 1. Do not connect phone yet. 2. Install MPT and update to 4.36 3. Install MSU, open it and let it update 4. Make sure your phone software is updated 5. Open MSU, and NOW connect your phone 6. It will install it is a v3m/l7/... etc 7. Once MSU finds your phone and installs the MCU, etc and then displays your ESN, close the program and disconnect the phone 8. Open MPT, create new profile 9. MPT will now automatically detect your phone and have MultiMedia icon showing.
Wait, so MSU has to be open when I connect the phone or it won't install properly? And do I need to use the drivertools zip at all?
