With the Palm Pre launching on June 6, I am trying to figure out the best strategy for actually getting the device on day one. My assumption is that demand will be high on June 6, not iPhone high, but substantial. Most of the reports on the device suggest a shortage at the beginning. Sprint corporate stores, Best Buy, Radio Shack and Wal Mart are going to carry the Pre. However, it is not clear whether each of these outlets will have the Pre on June 6 and how many units will be allocated to each location. Additionally, I have Best Buy will carry the Pre in only some its stores on June 6. So, my question: If one has access to all four of stores that will carry the Pre, what is the best strategy for getting one (or more) on June 6?
From what I understand, Bestbuy and radioshack both do instant rebates, with none of that mail in rebate nonsense. So demand might be higher there than elsewhere.
