Since there are many games available for Get It Now, and not all have demos...

This thread will be dedicated to reviews for games available through Get It Now.

Please rate games on a scale of 1 through 5 and give a brief description of the game, what you like, don't like, etc.

    Everquest: Hero's Call

Game is based on a popular RPG PC game. I have never played the PC version but have played many different RPG's. You have the choice to be either a Mage or Fighter (I've always been partial to mages). You can customize your name and other attributes.

It's a straight forward explore the dungeon, kill monsters, gain treasure type game. There is a Tavern where a little dialog and plot development occurs. You gain weapons, spells, jewels, money, food, armor....All sorts of stuff that can be customized, found or bought.

This game is great! I would say it's the best game I've played on a phone.

It has an auto mapping feature which is a great touch. The graphics are excellent and the game play is simple enough not to be too hard to hit the right button at the right time. I can' really speak to the sound because I always have it turned off...From what I have heard though, it is pretty good.

The game has multiple save slots so you can save your game at various stages.

    I definitely recommend this game.

The only negative to this game is that it takes up a lot of memory. Not surprising for the amount of depth for a phone game. It takes a little over 500k...

i'm pretty fond of the casino game. it has slots, blackjack and video poker. only drawback i
could say is no save feature for your winnings but hey, it's virtual money anyway.

i also like tiger woods golf alot. pretty straightfoward golf game.

the bowling is good too and i think it has a demo version.

on my wish list but not yet available on the 4400 is uno [IMG]

The casino game saves your winnings as long as you actually exit from the game rather than just hitting the "END" key when you get done.

I was a big fan of the Nineball game. Though after a short time I never lost to the CPU. Still I found it to be a lot of fun.

    Nineball

    Straight forward nineball game.

You can play the computer or human opponent.

Graphics are good. You can control English which I though was a nice touch to the game (I was actually surprised to be able to do that on a phone game!).

    Cons:
    • Gets easy after awhile
Only one computer level (might have longer value if you had more challenging opponents)
Needs a tournament mode or something like that

    3 out of 5

If you like nineball...You'll like this game....But I don't think it has a long life value.

    Top Gun

This is a flyer shoot 'em up game very similar to Nintendo's 1942 (which I used to love).

    Graphics are very nice.

You have the option of choosing either Maverick or Iceman, although I can't see any real difference.

    The game is fun....

However I don't really like it because it is too hard to control. You have to move left, right, forward and back and shoot all rather quickly. It's just a little demanding on that little rocker phone switch and hard to control. Some games I worry about the wear and tear it would cause on a phone. Let's face it- phones are not built to sustain a lot of rapid button pushing etc. This is still relatively new for them. This is one of those games that I think is just asking to wear out your buttons quickly...

    Prince of Persia

A PC classic I use to play on the Apple IIe. In this game you take control of the main character who is trying to rescue the princess. Along the way you must complete each level by running, jumping, opening doors, avoiding traps, and climbing up walls. Also you'll encounter bad guys you have to fight with your sword. The graphics are good considering its on a phone. The music and sound effects are not bad as well.

I haven't had too much time to play this game, but I've gotten past the first three levels. Definitely worth a look at.

    JAMDAT Casino

    Has standard casino games

    Blackjack

Play against the dealer. Blackjack with limited options. Can only double down on 11 and i think 10. Can split a pair. Buy insurance if the dealer is showing an ace. I believe the computer cheats. Maybe I just have bad luck. A good time killer.

    Video Poker

Standard video poker. Gets boring quick

    Slots

Why anyone would play this is beyond me.

The only game that's worth while is blackjack.

    Wheel of Fortune

Fun game. You all know this game. One player game where you have a certain amount of turns to solve the phrase/word. If you hit "bankrupt", "lose a turn", or guess an incorrect letter, you lose a turn and spin again. Supposely there's an option to download new phrases but I haven't tested that

    Worth the download. Recommended.

    Tiny Bartender

Not a game but a reference guide to making alcoholic drinks. Lists many ingredients to make a drink. Doesn't tell you the proper way to mix them, it just lists the ingredients. Gives some tips on how to be a bartender (frosty glasses etc).

Worthless application. Not reccomended, even for a guy who drinks a lot like me. I deleted this after I looked at it for about 5 minutes

    255 bowling. Booooya. Duh-nana -- Duh-nana

I cant get any higher though. Start on the right and aim near the middle with no more than full power. If your aim is off correct if with spin. So easy to play, so hard to master.

darn... thought I had a high score... 246 for me.... Bowling is fun, once you know where to aim its more a matter of concentration than anything else.... but a good simple game nontheless. My old Nokia had some simple puzzle/memory type games that were good to kill time with... nothing fancy but a little less mind numbing than the bowling, hope somehting like this will show up on GET IT NOW soon.....

267 HI score on Bowling. I place the ball 1 tick over from center, try to get on the line for power, on the middle arrow, and no spin.
    I give it 4 0f 5.

    I also like golf 3.5 of 5

Baseball turned out to be ok 3 of 5 although does anyone else have those glitches?

    Q-Bert

Classic arcade game. You take control of Qbert and have him jump around a pryamid of steps. He must go over all the steps atleast once to complete the level. Enemies will chase after Qbert.

Graphics: Since this was designed for the T720 and not the 4400, the graphics didn't translate that well. Qbert looks like a block. I don't remember how good the sound was. The controls are a little akward using the keypad.

I deleted this game 3 minutes after I played it because the graphics were too horrible on the 4400. In fairness it would get a higher rating on the T720 where it was meant to be played.

1.5 out of 5 for the 4400 version which was meant for the t720

Top Gun (3/5) very nice graphics but hard to control ...still trying to pass the second level
Bowling (4/5) very fun to play and always intersting to beat your high score (245)
EQ: Hero's Call (4/5) intersting game...i was never a fan of games like these but it have pretty nice graphics

thats all the games that i have...

looking to get Prince of Persia...is it any good?

Wow, nobody's into Yahtzee. I like it although the screen is a little squeeze. It doesn't look like it was designed exactly for the 4400. There isn't a lot of flash and it uses generic keys. However, if you like Yahtzee it's worth the $5. I would give it 3.5 out of 5.

5/5 Bowling I love it! And it also turns out that I'm the current bowling champ.......my high score is a 278! We might have to start posting pictures for proof soon. [IMG] I thought I was gonna get the elusive 300, but it wasn't so. I still think I will get it eventually though. However, I think I'm getting worse. I've only been getting 180-220 lately. As you can probably tell, I definitely recommend it!

So What has verizon done now? I think it's a good idea to organize the Get it now categories, but they have taken Bowling, Baseball, and Tiger Woods Golf off of the list. Whats's up? Does anyone share my grief?

I uploaded the .MIF for Chess for the T720 and it works just fine. The very bottom of the screen is cut off but playability is not affected at all.

Hey, I'm not a VX4400 owner but I just want to chime in....JAMDAT Bowling is EVIL!!!!! I've been racking my brains for months trying to get a perfect score, my highest is 289, I messed up on the last set! ARGGHH!!!! It's easier to get strikes if you just relax and get into the zone. My co-worker scored a perfect 300 TWICE! He was so jazzed he took a pic!
