Wow, where did they come up with that innovation. It really is becoming ___ for tat* between Apple and Samsung (and Google), three ways. *___ for tat noun Repayment in kind, as for an injury; retaliation
I for one sure hope they don't. I'm so tired of the concept of a non-user-replaceable battery... especially in an Android phone.
Well HTC makes very attractive phones with metal casing that have removable battery, so maybe Samy will copy them. Considering Samsung wants HTC to be eliminated from their playing field, I see this as more of a hit for HTC as opposed a "___ for tat" with Apple. Where did that saying come from anyway? "an eye for an eye" is more my favorite since it makes a vivid visual in my mind. Sent From My Mobile Device Using Tapatalk
HTC One doesn't have a removable battery and neither do Xperia Z & ZL. Anyway, plastic has a tendency to spring back if not cracked... metal just dents.
I was thinking of my last HTC, the Vivid. I do believe HTC doesn't make Xperias. Okay okay, you were giving examples of metal phones with non removable battery. Sent From My Mobile Device Using Tapatalk
I don't really see it as an issue anymore. With phones changing once a year, and many times 2x a year, the no-user-replaceable battery is working well. The battery lifetimes are a good 2 years. And if you need more juice, cheap external batteries are a better solution, IMO, since you can use those with the next phone which will have a different battery size and capacity. I wasted a lot of money on custom Nokia batteries that were obsolete before they were dead batteries.
Slightly OT, the battery on my 6131 is still ticking after 7 years and 4 days plus minus a couple of hours. It hasn't been used much since October 2012 when it was replaced by the Asha 311, dragging reluctant hubby into a scary new world of touchscreen devices. Sent From My Mobile Device Using Tapatalk
Yes, I understand you do not care, but to me the fact that these two batteries used to be the same size is disturbing. Also, my extended battery for my Nexus set me back a whopping $17 and even though it's now fat it fits a lot better into my jersey pocket than it would with an external battery attached to it, not to mention a USB cable constantly plugged in while crammed into a tight pocket would probably cause damage to the tiny connector. Well, my battery was still ticking too, but it wasn't the kind of ticking I liked, so I unplugged it before the timer ran all the way down For the record, we have the same kind of thing with a battery in one of the Blackberries at work. Less than two years, not even being plugged in every day. Bad battery? Perhaps. But why should I take a chance my $600 phone will fry over a $40 part that should be replaceable?
Finally remembered to take a snap of the BlackBerry battery at work. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 4 Beta
