Can I use the same wap settings to have free internet on my 4400 as the t720's/v60i's?

    IP - 207.232.99.109
    Port - 9201

Use the first menu option ie. IP1 and Port1. You will see..
    Works for me. [IMG]

I'm rather low-tech. Do I change the settings in the service menu? I'm sure it not that simple, is it?

I think you hold 0 to get into the browser menu after the homepage comes up, then change it to whatever WAP site you like

I confirmed the settings this morning. I went to open the browser and the screen read: security not enabled, it may take several minutes. Do you wish to proceed? Should I proceed? I didn't see this step in Rogerbinns site so I want to make sure all is well.

    Thanks. Oppie

Note: I added the new settings to Link 2 -IP1 and Link 2 - Port 1.

I think Verizon may have caught on to the fact that many of us are using the web for free. My access worked fine until yesterday. I was unable to connect to the network and my homepage kept resetting to www.openware.com rather than wap.oa.yahoo.com. I changed the settings back to the original state but will attempt to alter to connect later today. Hopefully, it will work.

Things haven't gone so smoothly for me (see my post 2 back). What's the enabling security about? Can I just go in and change the URL to www.yahoo.com if I so choose? I will wait until tonight to try it again as I am a true cheap bas tard.

Trying this for the first time, following the FAQ in the link and I am unable to change the homepage. Any suggestions? It simply says 'service not avail'

Change your homepage to http://wap.oa.yahoo.com and you should get to yahoo. The page will become your home portal.

Try resetting back to the original settings and then reput your free web settings. Use your homepage as http://wap.oa.yahoo.com and you should connect. Upon entering the web hold down on 0 and it will take you to the main menu where you can input your stuff. Good luck.

thanks for following up. now i'm really stuck.

as soon as i enter the browser, it says "Network Not Available"

if I hit RETRY, it just displays that message over and over. if i hit DONE it exits the browser. I can't get to the browser menu to change proxys.

so using the service menu I reset the browser.

    typed in the info again

went to the browser and it asked me to enter a homepage, so i put in that yahoo page

except it gives me an error tone when i hit 0. i'm at the yahoo page, but I think i'm paying for it. I never changed the proxy to #2 and it won't let me.

Great Waymond. Glad to see you're in. I have 2 more hours of cheapness until I try again. Did anyone ever get the security message I received in the earlier post? In addition, where did you change the homepage. Was it at the browser page where the JAVA error occured or in the menu under home page or URL? I'm so low tech, it rather agravating!

My understanding is there are only a few web sites that support this, correct? Or may I go to any site?

    Thanks. Oppie

After you press 1, the phone attempts to connect to www.openware.com, press and hold down 0 until the menu appears. Go to home and input your site or you can go to url and type in what you want. However, only certain sites will appear. Try http://wap.oa.yahoo.com and see if you connect. There are other sites available. HowardForums has plenty more to divulge.

I changed my homepage using the 0 key to get to browser settings then under the advanced menu. Heres a link to a message on the yahoo waptunnel newsgroup , it has a decent size list of sites that you can connect to.

Pretty frustrating! I have followed all directions to the T. The phone is "sending" and then I continue to get the message, "server not responding". Everything is reset. Double and triple checked. Has this happened to you? Any ideas? Instead of adding the 2nd port, should I change the first port setting? Help!
