Check out this website: www.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.com They claim that you will get a free laptop just for completing their 'sponsored offers'....what's the catch???
You'll probably have to complete hundreds upon hundreds of "marketing surveys" and the like, so it would probably not be an instant thing but who knows. Maybe get a new free e-mail and try it out, don't give them one you want to use.
I've tried stuff like that in the past. You have to do a bunch of surveys, and then sign up for a bunch of "offers" to qualify. Not worth it in my opinion. It costs too much $. -Jay
I figured there had to be some kind of catch somewhere along the lines. I heard about this offer on the radio(they have their 1 minute ads playing all over the place here in SLC). Ryan, my new laptop is treating me very well- I like it more than my old one actually, lol. For $449 and a free Wireless Router, Printer and Carry bag I'm not complaining!
Do you not have a laptop yet? I personally love the mobility to be anywhere in my house surfing the web or listening to my music whether I am in my room or anywhere else in the house.
I'm on my second Toshiba laptop. I use mine almost everywhere I go. It is fantastic. Right now I am using mine to take some college programming courses. Even though DELL is less than 8 miles from my house, I stayed away from them. Why? 1.) In the news DELL is, again, recalling over 4 million of their problem childs. It seems the 'CHEAP' batteries are catching on fire and has caused some peoples cars, bedrooms, living rooms and even a house to burn down. Wouldn't that be cool to take it on plane and it it catch on fire in the luggage compartment - yeh right!! 2.) Before buying I asked around school and it seems that most of the people who had a laptop from DELL had to send theirs back at LEAST once for problems. 3.) My niece works for a major company, that bought ~1500 of the DELL laptop's. She said that they have more problems with the DELL's than any other laptop. They are slowly replacing them with other models as the warranties run out on them.
I just bought a Tochiba two days ago and so far so good. We have bought a Gateway computer and never again will be buy a gateway product again. A part broke the day after our warranty was over and nobody could fix it because Gateway uses different parts than other companies so we had to send the computer in to Gateway and they charged us an arm and a leg to fix it.
I've always wanted a Gateway and in the early days, Gateway was one of the most wanted computers on the market and you paid for them, too. They also, like MAC's, used the best parts on the market, but in order to keep up pricewise with everyone else, they went completely down to a zero-company. Now I wouldn't take a Gateway, even if it was free.
Agree completely...lately I have heard of too many people having problems with that company. I've never tried a DELL myself but a friend of mine got a $1700 DELL laptop over a year ago and is still happy from what I know.
To answer your original question, I participated in one of those for my daughter one, time. She wanted a 'free' iPod. It wound up costing me more to buy the required 'sponsored' items, than just buying the iPod itself. A friend said he did the same and went through all kinds of surveys after surveys, after surveys, etc.... He never got his 'free' item either, because his name was 'supposedly' not drawn. There was never a mention of names being drawn and competing for the 'freebie'. Therefore, I consider this things another type of marketing scam.
You have to complete many offers and surveys such as signing up for a credit card and buying something with it. The company makes a ton of money off of you. I'm am going to x-out the web site name in post #1 so they don't get any free publicity from here.
No, it is good to educate people on these. Pretty much any web site like freexxxxxx.com is one of these sites. ipods, RAZRs, laptops, etc.
Joe is right Andy. People should know about those ripoff places and not learn the hard way, like some of us did.
Kevin Rose actually got a $250 iTunes gift card frome a site like that once. And speaking of laptops, my MacBook is scheduled to arrive at the house today.
Yeah I got one of those for a free iPod, you had to sign up for a "special offer" then get 5 other people to do the same. I signed up for a credit card back in 2004 (one of the special offers), and now have $4300 worth of debt and that was the first credit card I'd had since the early 90's. DONT DO IT. Not that I have a spending problem, its just easy to start using it for little everyday things and it really adds up. Oh well, i'm just glad its finally paid of. Oh yes and I never got the free iPod.
