Found a brand new phone, what to do

    hey guys..
    this is my first post here.
    this is a pretty crazy story.
    I got a package from a clothing store i ordered from and when i opened the box there was a brand new nextel i870 in the box. The phone was totally sealed and all the wires are in the bag new. i put in the battery to check to see if the phone was working and it is. there are no numbers in it.
    I called the clothing store i ordered from and they told me that they have no idea how it got in there and that i should just keep it.
    now my question is what can i do with this phone? how do i know if the phone is activated? can i sell this phone?

    E-Plus (BASE 12 month flatrate)/Vodafone Germany
    Contact Nextel and make sure that it's not reported as missing or stolen. It could be that phone does belong to someone.

    if the phone was activated does it mean it cannot be sold? it seems that i can make outgoing calls with the phone

    Then that would already be a reason to make sure that the phone isn't reported as stolen or missing. If the phone has been activated under someone's name and is connected to someone's bank account, then you can bet that they most likely don't know where the phone has ended up.

    I wouldn't use the phone until that question has been answered.

    I would call Nextel like shores said it could save you some trouble in the long run.
