Most notable, in my mind, is the following quote: "Apple is destroying design. Worse, it is revitalizing the old belief that design is only about making things look pretty." I think Samsung and others are also guilty of this. Too much focus on "pretty" and not enough on "function." http://www.patentlyapple.com/patent...-into-apple-for-giving-design-a-bad-name.html
I wonder KJ if you read the article that you linked? Two former Apple employees argue that Apple has changed upon the design principles that made it great. Assuming that you hated Apple always, that would be good news for you, no? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
@viewfly: Yes, I read the article and no, even after everything I've written, you still seem to misunderstand me. I have no problem being objective with everything and everyone. While I don't care for Apple Corporation, I readily admit that the iPhone seems to serve many people well. In fact, just a couple weeks ago I met a scientist who is half my age and that is much more knowledgable than I am and he prefers iPhone and hates Android. I mentioned nothing of my feelings because i wanted to keep it amicable. Finally, regarding the article, I thought my comments made it clear that I understood the article but that I didn't feel Apple was alone in having lost its focus. In essence, I somewhat defended Apple because they are not acting any differently than other mfgrs. That is, in their bid to gain as much market-share as possible, they've sold their design-soul to the devil. Personally, I think Samsung is even worse in that situation. After reading my reply above to you above, I worried that you'd think I was upset or being defensive. Actually that is not the case at all. I'm merely trying to state the facts of my viewpoint as clearly as possible. I respect that you love Apple and your iPhone. That's fine. Enjoy. May it bring many years of dependable service to you. In the meantime, I love Android.
Yeah. I thought you were having fun, and so was I. Here is the original article, which I think has some flaws, and some that Apple has corrected. Mainly it seems to me an article very much Apple from the inside that focuses on things that people love about Apple as much as others hate. http://www.fastcodesign.com/3053406/how-apple-is-giving-design-a-bad-name Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Nope, I love Android. Samsung has very much disappointed me recently. If I love them in any manner, it is that I love the Note-series phablet. But then, even the industry loves that phone. And iPhone lovers have Samsung to thank for the larger iPhone models now available. And that's the truth, so there.
And there it is, the hidden message that always lies underneath. Not sure what that has to do with anything in this thread. But it opens the door: My feeling about the screen size argument is that it's a decision not an innovation process. We have had large monitors for decades, after all. Regarding these competing OS's, iOS vs Android: the iPad (announced January 2010, delivered, April 2010, wifi, 3G) would be the first and largest screen size device running a phone OS. So it was possible, and merely a decision So thank you's necessary for technology to Samsung. Showing the actual market interest, for a smaller screen size phone, but larger than the iPhone, yeah, sure that is true. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Not to drum up a month old thread but to me, even though I use Apple, I feel that Android has much function but is less refined. I've tried Android a few different times and found that the different things I can do with it was so nice but, at the same time aggravating because there would be random errors or things randomly wouldn't work then later would, etc. I think its one of the main reasons why some people have such a hard time choosing between one or the other.
