You are going to switch to Sprint so you can roam on some other provider? Why don't you just go directly to that provider? No wonder Sprint doesn't make much profit. Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 1.6; en-us; SonyEricssonX10a Build/R2CA016) AppleWebKit/528.5+ (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.2 Mobile Safari/525.20.1
Not true. Was on the phone with the Airave people for another hour yesterday. Probably about 4 hours in all. I just won't threaten to cancel since I have no intention of doing so. I'm not helped by the fact that Sprint's coverage maps depict my house as in their best coverage...which is a total joke.
I couldn't get them to send me the new Airave if my life depended on it so I gave up. Like Matt, I won't resort to 'threatening to cancel' tactics to get it either and I really don't need it anyway. But I am happy that I now I get my old Airave for free instead of paying the $4.99 charge.
The airave dept. won't be able to help you with this task. Really, your only option is to threaten to cancel. That is the only way to get an airave (unless you have a pre-existing issue like I did with broken EVDO, which this new airave fixes) You guys might even be better off with the old school airave, I have been having some trouble with the new one.
Now that I know how to force roam all my phones to Verizon, I suspect I will turn off the Airave pretty soon.
That puts you on 1x, though. What phone are you using these days anyway? Your info says moto i1 (iden), or Katana. Which android are you on?
Well, here in PHX, VZW still hasn't changed over the Alltel SID, so I get EVDO roaming. And 1X data at home would be fine anyway. I can use WiFi when I am home.
I've seen a number of complaints on SU about the new one. One of them seems to be that call handoffs don't work anymore.
I have not tried the handoff to the regular network yet, but the problem I have is that fairly often, it stops putting out an EVDO signal, the only thing I got it for. Right now, my evo has a -120 dmb EVDO signal, which means there isn't one present, and it isnt defaulting to the macro network. I'm sure a firmware update will fix this, but for now, it's annoying.
