I have a second home in NH where I have for years had good extended network service (there is a US Cellar tower 400 yards from my house). Lat year Verizon installed a new tower in an adjoining town which tends to provide enough signal to hold the phone on the Verizon network, but not enough to make a call. I can trick the phone to the extended network by putting it in a pan or the fireplace...but this doesn't work outside. Verizon says they can't help me.

Can anyone explain how I can setup my E815 so it will either more quickly switch to extended network or so I can force it to do so?
