Im new here, and I was trying to see if this had been done yet, but I was wondering, what was everyones first Wireless system? My first Wireless was Sprint Spectrum in the DC area in 1997, i had an ericsson, I forget the model... Anyone else?
Date: 1999 or 2000?? Location: DC area Provider: Cellular One Phone: TDMA Motorola StarTac 7791? (unsure of exact model #)
D2 PRIVAT(now Vodafone) in Germany in the 90's. My Dad used to have a C-Netz car phone and back phone in the very early 90's in Germany, then switched do D2 as well.
BellSouth Mobility in Memphis, late 1996. It was an Ericsson candybar phone with TDMA and AMPS, green backlit LED; can't remember the model number. I ended up taking that phone with me to Oxford and RCC; it eventually crapped out on me in 2000 or so. My mom had a Oki 900 (I think) before that, also from BellSouth Mobility; it was AMPS only. Compared to it, my Ericcson seemed compact and hip.
My first wireless was Voicestream prepaid with the Motorola V2282 (2000); My 1st postpaid service was SprintPCS with the Samsung N240 (2002)(I think...it was a small silver and blue bar-style phone that flipped out at the bottom)
In Memphis, in 1996 on GTE Wireless using a used Motorola 8000 Classic (the full size handset, with red seven segment LEDs). COtech
That's my answer, too. Then we were switched to Sprint PCS When we found we couldn't make a call in downtown Washington DC, we switched to AT&T prepay, then to CallPlus prepay, then Beyond Wireless prepay. As TDMA died, we switched to Verizon (family plan); couldn't be happier. Lena
1996-1997 air touch and I had a Motorola Microtac not a bad phone for the time my plan was was expensive though I paid .10 a minute for usage

1994 - Wichita, Kansas - Southwestern Bell Mobility Had a bag phone. Had that for 1 year and then went with Cellularone ( Still here)
OKI 900 on GTE Mobilenet (now Verizon) in 1992. The next year, I activated the same phone on NAM 2 on Korea Mobile Telecom (now SK Telecom).
Date: Late 1998 to early 2000 Location: Kingsport, TN Provider: BellSouth Mobility DCS (now Cingular Wireless) Phone: Nortel 1930 (I think that was the model number, not 100% sure though). It was a GSM only phone that operated on the PCS frequency.
2002, Phoenix: Nokia 5170i (CDMA) through Cricket 2002/3, First Contracted Phone: Samsung SCH-N150 through Verizon (Phoenix & MA)
Oh man....ATT Wireless right after they bought Cellular One here in the mid 90's?? Phone was a Mitsubishi AH4500 analog....still have it. lol
1994. ATT. Ericsson. Their first digital model. Looked like a black brick (and felt like it too) with huge antenna. Almost but not quite as bad as current satellite phones: http://www.adventure4wd.com.au/going_bush/images/motorola_phone.jpg
